Average Olympics sim might get kids off the couch.

Common Sense Media
6 September 2012
  • Summary: Parents need to know that London 2012 is a sports simulation of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. It encourages players to take pride in their country's athletes by competing under a national flag of their choice, and promotes physical exercise not just through the depiction of dozens of events but also the option of motion control, which gets players up off the couch. Some players could be frustrated by the need to learn new controls for each event.

London 2012: The Official Videogame of the Olympic Games

oxmonline.com
20 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Few games let you do the triple jump for your country, then nail a perfect dive minutes later. Add another 40-or-so Summer Olympics events, including skeet shooting (unwieldy fun!) and the 100-meter Backstroke (just unwieldy!), and you have the highs and lows of London 2012 . In single-player, you’ll vie for medals in a mish-mash of events strung together over a series of in-game days.
  • Pros: + Loads of different, varied events and control types to try., + Plenty of modes (including challenges and tournaments) for competing with friends online and off.
  • Cons: ? Can we throttle the dismissive commentators through the screen?

London 2012: The Official Video Game Xbox 360 Review

DarkZero
29 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Most people know what to expect from a game based on the Olympics. The sport has been covered throughout the console generations, with high points like Konami’s Track and Field series and low points that often include budget games ( Summer Athletics …) that don’t even try to give a good representation of the sport. Sega has owned the official Olympic license for a few years now, using it to bring the fun 2008’s Beijing Olympics game to Xbox 360 and PS3.

“Zijn we klaar voor de Olympics?”

evilgamerz.nl
6 September 2013

GBase
10 July 2012
  • Conclusion: Vielleicht mag London 2012 kein völlig typisches Lizenzspiel sein.
  • Pros: Grosse Auswahl an Disziplinen, Hübsche Wiederholungen, Belebte Arenen, Passende Aufmachung
  • Cons: Keine realen Athleten, Kommentatoren wiederholen sich zeitweise, Kaum Langzeitmotivation, Limitiertes Gameplay
