Summary: The game kind of blows, but the mics are pretty sweet. I would say, get the mics and use them for Rockband. Well, NOW I would say just don't get it, since no one plays Rockband anymore either, but if you WANT to get a Karaoke game, Rockband would be a far superior option to Lips.
Summary: I am someone who likes to sing, but is practicallly tone-deaf. I bought this thinking it would have some sort of pitch indicator like Rock Band to show you how you are doing. Alas, as others have mentioned, the game only tells you if you got it right or not. If you were off, you have no idea how far off you were, if you were low or high, early or late, etc. So there was no way for me to get better when re-trying a song, it's just guess and check.
Summary: If you like to sing, Rock Band 2 is better. When you sing on Rock Band2, it shows you how close you are to hitting the right pitch. With Lips, it only lights up if you hit the right pitch, so it's not as much help in learning to sing the song perfectly on pitch. You can do 'battles' with another singer, but you can't choose your own avatar when you do. So, you both look like monsters, one skinny with green hair and the other fat with blue hair.
Excerpt: As an idea this is a good product however depending on what age group you are you might struggle to enjoy it. I have played this with younger people and older people however and there was a distinct shortage of songs for each age groups and the songs that are on it are pretty poor. The microphones are really pretty and flash and it adds to the feel of the game however the sound that you get from them is poor and there is a limited array of effects you can put on them.
Excerpt: Firstly just like to make clear i bought this game for a friend who absolutley loves karoke. This game is an attractive alternative to its rival singstar on the playstation, with the most noticble advantage being the fact that the mics are wireless, or is it? The wireless mics are a great idea, but to get them to actually work and understand them is ridculosly complicated.
Summary: My sister got this for Christmas - we were all in a party mood so loaded it up. We went right through the songs to find a party tune to sing, got right to the end and were sorely disappointed. Duffy's Mercy, Coldplay's Yellow, Leona's Bleeding Love - all good songs but nothing you want to get up and belt out at a party. So we went online to download some better tunes and were amazed at an even worse selection - there are only about 30 songs there.
Summary: So Lips is rather disappointing: Negatives 1. The game slows down when playing. Ridiculous bug. 2. You don't seem to be able to login under multiple Live accounts, meaning that all the achievements, even with different singers, go under the one Live account. I can't believe it was designed like this. 3. Other than the Jukebox there doesn't appear to be a multiplayer (more than 2) mode, or any other type of more complex game to play with the songs.
