Not that bad.

Noah James Smith, Amazon

  • Summary: Game is amazing. Been waiting a long time to finally get my own copy. Bought used to avoid paying extra for nothing and I'm only slightly disappointed. Bottom latch for case is broken so when it was delivered the discs were everywhere. And there are a few scratches and cracks to the center ring, but I suppose that is to be suspected. I'd give a higher review but my heart was broken when I was delivered them in a broken case.

  • Summary: Rockstar games made a great game based in the 1940s where you play as a detective on a desperate search for truth. A fun game with a great story.
  • Pros: The look and feel from the era and the story.
  • Cons: No muitlplayer, but isn't needed.

its interesting, but not that fun

  • Summary: The game is very interesting, but it seems repetitive. You can't use your gun in free roam, and all the cars look the same. The ending is just too fast and horrible.

Nice try

  • Summary: It is a great idea - but not executed as well as rockstar normally do. Hopefully if there is another game like this, there will be more to do outside the story.
  • Pros: I love rockstar games.... but L.A. Noire is not their best effort. I applaud the intention. I think a real detective game is a great idea (Though CSI may have killed this through idiocy). The game is mostly good, with interesting cases - but not good enough.
  • Cons: There is very little to do other than the cases. Rockstar's best game IMO (Red Dead Redemption) has so much to do outside the storyline - But L.A. Noire seems to be more about the cut scenes. In some cases, there is no reason to choose one suspect over another (and often you are unable to have evidence like blood typing done). The feel of driving is very bad.

Fun at first...

  • Summary: L.A. Noire captivated me when they released the gameplay videos and trailers. I was even more enthralled when I saw all of the work that went into the motion capture for the game. When I finally got the game I was floored at how amazing it was. The details that went into the characters, the cars, the music... everything. Then I actually played the rest of the game. The cases all the way through homicide were amazing.

Good try

  • Summary: The cases are extremely repetitive. The visuals fall in the uncanny valley. Some of the "correct" answers during interrogation are extremely wrong. For example, I asked a young girl about her mom's jewelry. She said she didn't pay attention to the jewelry, which I doubted. The correct answer was Truth. When you select truth, the girl tells you what you need to know about the jewelry. How was doubt not the correct answer? Weird developer logic.

Entertaining for awhile, if you're gonna buy it, buy it used.

  • Summary: I bought this game looking for some fun and knowing how well Rockstar makes games. Loved the way they made the story, the graphics and the whole setting is great. 5 stars on that. The thing that just didn't get my approval was that the game became SO repetitive that it really turned me off. Finding clues was so ridiculous, you have to actually "run over the place" till you spot all the clues you need. Apart from that, it's a good game overall.
