Xbox 360 Review - 'Kung-Fu High Impact'

WorthPlaying
11 March 2012
  • Summary: Kung Fu High Impact is the first of its kind for Kinect for Xbox 360 — a side-scrolling brawler that uses the peripheral's incredibly accurate body tracking technology to insert the real image of the player on screen.

Kung Fu: High Impact

Thunderbolt Games
28 February 2012
  • Excerpt: While playing Kung Fu: High Impact , in the beginning, I discovered that my primary enemy was myself. Or if I wasn’t the enemy, my fat was. I am very out of shape, and attempting to battle the combined forces of Tiki village people and shadowy contraptions of doom led quickly to sore muscles and heavy breathing. This is a game that takes the Kinect’s decree to heart: the body is the controller. Jump, punch, it’s all in the mind. Think of a move and do it.

Kung-Fu High Impact

True achievements

  • Conclusion: The best part is jumping around like a lunatic, but this will tire even fit gamers if you’re not taking turns. Whilst it had potential, Kung-Fu High Impact really limits its audience with overly hard fights, and exhausting moves. Great fun for a couple of levels with delightful story-telling – this should have been geek heaven, but instead it’s stuck in limbo.

  • Excerpt: Just when you wonder what can a company bring out, to make the Kinect just as fresh as when it started months ago…something comes along that you just can’t seem to get enough of.  Because face it, in this industry things get old fast. Thankfully there are a few companies out there willing to take that creative leap into something and mesh together a game that is oh so silly but oh so darned fun.

Kung-Fu High Impact (Xbox 360) Review

411mania.com
25 December 2011
  • Summary: Kung-Fu High Impact is enjoyable for the first half hour or so, but then you’ll grow bored, frustrated, and tired by the gameplay. The combat registers well with Kinect, but the gameplay is so boring and so bland that you’ll end up flailing your arms around like a monkey waiting for all the enemies to die. High Impact is a game that’s technically impressive, but there’s no real game to enjoy.

Kung-Fu High Impact Review

Game Informer
14 December 2011
  • Conclusion: Concept: Put the player onscreen as they fight off waves of baddies Graphics: Kinect does a good job of isolating the player, but the rest of the design is bland Sound: Unremarkable music and sound effects, but the comic narration isn't offensively bad Playability: Attacking and performing magic works well. Dodging and platforming does not. Entertainment: Fun in quick bursts, but you wouldn't want to play it for extended periods.
