Kinect Star Wars

Destructoid
2 September 2013
  • Summary: Following a few ramshackle E3 presentations, expectations for Kinect Star Wars were tempered at best. After footage of the game's Galactic Dance Off mode, featuring a dancing Han Solo at the carbonite pit, hit YouTube, these expectations turned from "low" to "the deathblow for the entire Star Wars franchise." There's certainly more to Kinect Star Wars than a mere generic collection of mini-games, but is really the manifestation of Naga Sadow's wrath for motion gaming?

Kinect Star Wars

Game Over Online
1 September 2012
  • Excerpt: I’d like to consider myself a pretty hardcore Star Wars fan. While I may not get dressed up like a Stormtrooper and my slave Leia outfit is strictly for home use, I do have Star Wars tattoos! Come on, that’s pretty hardcore, right? It’s always a nice feeling when someone gets it. However, I’m the first to admit my supreme disappointment with almost everything to come out of Skywalker Ranch since the second half of Return of the Jedi.

  • Summary: Throughout this review you will have seen the word average used to describe sections of the game and as an overall package I would again use this word to describe things.

Kinect Star Wars (X360) - Review

VGChartz
25 April 2012
  • Excerpt: Since the inception of Star Wars , fans have pined for the chance to feel like they're wielding a lightsaber in real combat, using their skills with the powerful blade to cut down waves of enemies and duel powerful foes. Finally, after 35 years... we get to keep waiting. Kinect Star Wars will not give you the power of a Jedi Master, or even the lowly Padawan you play throughout the main campaign.

Star Wars Kinect

Game Boyz
21 April 2012
  • Excerpt: Rejoice, for you can now wield lightsabers and the power of the force with nothing but subtle (and not so subtle) movements of your body. Star Wars Kinect immerses you in a mythical universe packed with jedis, padawans, wookies, battle droids, and a host of familiar faces straight from George Lucas’ popular franchise. If any of those names in the last sentence confused you, I suggest you immediately acquire the original Star Wars trilogy and watch it on DVD.

Kinect Star Wars

Strategy Informer
7 April 2012
  • Conclusion: I might be able to see the strings – but the people for whom this is designed – kids and families who either won’t know better or won’t care – won’t be effected by it. Kinect Star Wars isn’t for us, and as a package is good value, part of an attractive franchise and a damn sight better than a lot of the rubbish shovelware on the shelves for kids today.

Kinect Star Wars Review

G4
5 April 2012
  • Summary: While an unnecessary amount of focus has been given to the dance mode, Kinect Star Wars is a fairly solid party game that will please any Star Wars fan looking to dust off their Kinect.
  • Pros: Light saber use is cool and instinctive, Rancor Rampage lets you be Godzilla for a day, Yes, the dancing is actually rather enjoyable
  • Cons: Lacking the coolest force powers, Graphics look like a Wii game, Some gameplay modes get old pretty fast
