Conclusion: While filled with action, the game is a bit disappointing especially after seeing the movie. Still, the gameplay will give you a feeling of superhero-like power as you fly around destroying rocket launchers, powerful tanks, turrets, planes and helicopters. The lack of multiplayer is another downside to the game. With the special appearance from War Machine, you'd think that at least a co-op option would be available.
Conclusion: Seriously at no time did this game display what the 360 was capable of. It felt like a lazy PS2 port (which it probably was). There are so many other games you could be spending your forty quid on - like GTA IV for example, or even saving up for a movie franchise game that actually does bring the feel and atmosphere of the film into the gameplay: The Bourne Conspiracy. Look out for our review of that and don't waste your time with this.
Excerpt: Name: Iron Man Genre: Action Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PS2, Wii, DS, PC (Reviewed on Xbox 360) Months ago, when we first got images of the in-game Iron Man model, I got interested. When I heard that the character model was being provided by ILM, and was basically the same as the one used in the movie, I got excited. Last week, when I saw the excellent Iron Man movie, I got downright stoked. How could they possibly mess up this project that’s so full of promise...
Conclusion: The Iron Man the game exploded on to store shelves the same day as the film and we here at BXB really loved the film! But we can't help but wonder, will Iron Man the game hit the same high flying and action packed notes that it's big screen brother did, read on to find out.
Conclusion: The Iron Man game is pretty much what you'd expect from a videogame tie-in: it follows that tried and true formula of emulating the film, adding some new bits while glossing over the plot and being fun but ultimately forgettable. The only unconventional aspects are the controls, which can take a lot of getting used to and ultimately might just turn a lot of people off the game entirely.
Pros: fast paced fun, nice, open levels to fight and fly in, lots of unlockable outfits
Cons: controls take a bit of getting used to, some performance issues during big battles, difficulty is all over the place, bosses can be a pain due to sloppy design
