Iron Man

D+PAD
17 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Iron Man – the film – is as confident, knowing and purely enjoyable a summer blockbuster as Hollywood has made in years. Blessed with a career-defining performance from Robert Downey Jr and an almost perfect balance between real-world subtext and comic-book thrills, its giant robot action is lent the sort of tension and human interest that last year’s Transformers could only dream about.

  • Excerpt: No surprises here: another lousy game based on a great summer movie. Slightly surprising is that it comes from Sega, once a game industry powerhouse, now a peddler of tie-ins and tired sequels as often as not.

  • Conclusion: Again, I haven't seen the movie, so I cannot advise you to watch it. All I can say is stick to the comics, if you haven't read them already, but do your best to avoid this game.
  • Pros: Suit upgrades are a nice touch; combat has its fun moments, decent sound;
  • Cons: Weird AI behavior, erratic camera and lousy controls, repetitive level design, boring mission structure, could've looked better, ultimately disappointing gameplay.

Iron Man Xbox 360, PS3 Review

DarkZero
3 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Okay, the movie is amazing. Robert Downey Jr. as the alcoholic billionaire turned armour-clad superhero Tony Stark, who blasts his way through legions of terrorists as Iron Man. It is action packed, entertaining and – on paper – would make an excellent video game. The same thing has been said about many a superhero movie tie-in and unfortunately, most of them have been horrendous.
