Looks great, does NOT drive well

  • Summary: I bought this based on the title and having gone to time trails many times during the late '60's thru the '70's. The games looks great, but the driving characteristics are horrible. You can't keep up with the opponents. It always drives off the track. Even on the easy settings it's way to difficult to have any fun. There's just no car control. At least my son likes it, because he likes all the crashing that he does. I have other race games that are way more fun.

What a wonderful game!

  • Summary: Indy500 Evolutions is already several years old by the time I picked up this game. I expected older graphics, and from the mixed reviews I assumed it would be a nostalgia pickup with little play value. After all, I have had Forza 4 for a while now, and am eagerly awaiting Forza 5 when Indycar racing returns to console! This brings us to this purchase: unable to wait for my open wheel fix, I saw this little game for xBox360. I am really glad I did.

  • Summary: 1960's Indy 500 was full of changes and this is great simulation. All the cars have different strong and weak points. Love this game.

Is this professional racing or bumper cars?

  • Summary: It is almost impossible to even get through a race without other cars crashing into you...sometimes even as soon as the race starts. Unless you are way out in front, cars will crash into you from behind or from the sides. When there is contact with another car, it often results in the cars locking together and the race is pretty much finished because you can't get loose from the other car.

Excellent idea, but definitely not a racing sim.

  • Summary: Overall, I am happy with the game. I had read other buyers reviews and pretty much understood what I was going to get. The historical aspect of this game is probably going to be a huge selling point for many who like that era of Indy car racing. But if you are looking for a graphically superior game with infinitely adjustable and tunable cars, it's probably not for you.

  • Summary: Physics weren't up to par with recent games. Al runs you over, no mirrors to avoid oncoming cars. It was cool to run indy in a classic car, but during race two many accidents.

Worth the money

  • Summary: Let me start by saying that many old Xbox racing games looked better graphically than this game does on the 360. It has mediocre driving physics too but as a historical racing experience it excels. I really get the tense feeling of needing a good qualifying effort in order to get a podium finish in the race. The AI is not bad and I found that at the normal setting it is challenging without being impossible to win races and championships.
