ilomilo (XBLA) Review

Brainlazy
21 June 2011
  • Conclusion: ilomilo is surprisingly deep in almost every way. The puzzles are challenging and require outside the box thinking, the story is multilayered, the art style is unique and detailed, and the multiplayer is unexpected. Great effort is made to keep you playing, and overall things are extremely well executed. At the same time, though, all of the novelty will lead to vastly differing opinions of the game. Some will call it a brilliant, artistic, innovative masterpiece.

Ilomilo (Xbox 360)

ccgr.org
18 April 2011
  • Excerpt: For some odd reason, most games of today focus on a grim, dystopian setting. The heroes of these games save their brown and gray world just in time to be met with yet another problem. Ilo and Milo, on the other hand, want nothing more than to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and spend a day at the park. But then again, even the park can have its own form of peril.
  • Cons: Level of difficulty can be very high.

IloMilo Review

PlayDevil
2 March 2011
  • Summary: I will admit that " IloMilo " was not a game which I would have instantly bought upon release mainly because the title gave no clues as to what the game was about and the fact that it was yet another XBLA puzzle game. However let me assure you that this is one game which is a very worthy download indeed.

ilomilo

AV Club
10 January 2011
  • Excerpt: It’s easy to get the hang of ilomilo . It’s much harder to master it. Each level of the puzzle game has the same basic concept: Players must unite two friends, Ilo and Milo. But getting the adorable red and blue creatures together involves navigating increasingly complex landscapes. The characters must use a variety of special cubes to get around obstacles.

Ilomilo Review: This Cute Puzzler Packs A Serious Punch

Game Informer
6 January 2011
  • Conclusion: Concept: Reunite two cute critters on a 3D playfield made of blocks. Sounds easy, right? Wrong! Graphics: You might be forgiven for looking for the Media Molecule label on this game. Sackboy resemblance aside, the visuals are vibrant and charming Sound: A whimsical and tuneful score fits right in with the game’s overall vibe Playability: I have some problems with the camera and the feel of the controls, but the puzzles are finely tuned Entertainment: As good a puzzler as...

Blends charm and wit into a puzzler well worth the asking price

GamesRadar
5 January 2011
  • Conclusion: True puzzle classics offer a simple set of rules and then build on them with increasing complexity and imaginative level designs. SouthEnd has absolutely connected on both fronts, offering that classic mix of simple concepts with increasingly elaborate challenges, while carefully mixing in just enough humor and charm to make finding out what the next world will offer that much more compelling.
  • Pros: Playful look and feel, Genuinely head-scratching puzzles, Tempting replay value
  • Cons: That it's over so soon, Camera controls are limited, Leaderboards are an evil hook
