Conclusion: If you’re like me, the graphics will start off dazzling you, because the character models are so well done, matching the actual actors in the “Potter” films. Once they start talking, the shine comes off a bit (with some glitches occurring where a character didn’t move his lips during the dialogue of a few cutscenes). Seeing how the characters’ hair looks, along with how it sometimes passes through the character’s collar or doesn’t move, dulls it up a bit more.
Excerpt: Harry Potter is back in a new gaming adventure for Xbox 360 adventure! And with promises of creating magical potions, joining a dueling club and perfecting our Quidditch skills, this is one game we were super-excited to try out!
Excerpt: When you've created an entire virtual Hogwarts school, it makes sense that you'll want to get the most out of it, but in the case of EA's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it means the game is incredibly similar to the publisher's previous effort. Once again you'll be guiding Harry through the school (and the odd off-site area), conjuring spells, completing tasks and loosely following the plot of the latest film.
Excerpt: With a new Harry Potter movie comes a new installment in the Harry Potter video game franchise from Electronic Arts. One thing that all gamers who are Harry Potter fans should know is that the game is simply a copy of the movie. For people like me who have read all the books and seen all the movies, I would have liked the game to take more after the book as opposed to the movie. If you haven’t read the books and aren’t familiar with the story (the way J.K.
Excerpt: As you start your adventure as Harry Potter, you’ll notice that the game itself is actually pretty fun. If you know what is going on before you play the game then you can fill in the missing pieces in your head and just focus on playing the game and not understanding the story. You’ll notice that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has a pretty large landscape and allows you many places to explore.
Xbox 360 Review - 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'
29 July 2009
Summary: In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince you'll engage in exciting wizard duels, mix and brew magical ingredients in Potions class, take to the air to lead the Gryffindor Quidditch team to victory, get sidetracked by Ron's romantic entanglements and journey toward discovering the identity of the Half-Blood Prince.
Conclusion: The entire game is almost identical to the last offering, only with the focus shifted to Quidditch, dueling and potions. If that floats your boat then prepare to spend a few hours just repeating those tasks until the game ends. This may be enough fun for rabid Potter fans but provides little in the way of entertainment for the rest of us. Hopefully the last game in the series will provide more bang for your buck.
