Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
2 September 2013
Summary: It was ten years ago that Halo: Combat Evolved was released on the original Xbox. The series would go on to create a standard for the first-person shooter genre and arguably help secure the Xbox as a household name. First-person shooters have evolved considerably since the original release of Halo , but even so, I still consider Combat Evolved to be one of my top games of all times due to what it did for me as a gamer.
Excerpt: Ten years ago, long time PC software developer Microsoft decided to make a bold move and venture in the video game market. Knowing they had a steep upward battle ahead, because of Sony’s year head...
Pros: + An awesome trip down memory lane, + It was nice to revisit what started it all, + Cool new features for a tiny price, + This is how you do an HD “remake!”
Conclusion: — The game includes more updates and upgrades than I expected, and it’s nice to have Master Chief back again even if it is in a game we’ve technically all played before. Certain sections seem more linear and artificially extended than I recall, which is disappointing, but when you account for the game’s reduced price, it’s still a good value.
Conclusion: It'll save you some time, and help you in English essays. Being concise is the key. Also citing your sources and quotation punctuation, but that's a whole other beast. Alternatively, you can write your own review of composed as follows: "Haylow iz teh awsumse!" and have everyone say you're a visionary of our time.
Excerpt: For XBox gamers, the penultimate first person shooter series is Halo and Halo: Combat Evolved was the game that started it all. However for those gamers that have come late to the party, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition is a remastered version of the game with beautiful next-generation graphics but with the same story and gameplay that it made such as a worldwide hit.
Conclusion: Like it or not, Halo was a revolutionary game for consoles. It defined a generation of console first-person shooters and helped make the Xbox console a success. Microsoft and 343 Industries have gone the extra mile to make sure that Halo CE: Anniversary is more than just another HD remake and has created an essential purchase for fans of the original. If it wasn't for the stupid Kinect features and lack of the original multiplayer, Halo CE: Anniversary would be perfect.
Pros: switch between new and old graphics on the fly, original animations, AI and physics, remastered audio, online cooperatively play, low price
Cons: kinect features, lack of 'original' multiplayer
Excerpt: 19th November 2011 - I've been a fan of the Halo series since I played the first game as a kid, in a living room, surrounded by pizza boxes, empty Coke bottles and friends. To me, there's never been anything quite like the Halo series when it comes to fun with mates, and Anniversary is no exception – in fact, it defines this. There isn't too much to be said here, being comprised of two older games.
