Half-Life 2: Episode Two Review

GameCritics.com
18 February 2013
  • Excerpt: Half-Life 2 was for me a little bit of a letdown. It was an epic game of grand scope with superlative storytelling, and I did think it was one of the best first-person shooters I'd ever played. But I couldn't help but be a bit bothered by the game's stubborn adherence to rather dated genre clichés-one man carrying a small arsenal, breaking open crates to find bullets and medicine, and the contrived placement of various weapons, exploding barrels, and magical crates of...

Half-Life 2: Episode Two Review

VideoGamer.com
2 May 2009
  • Excerpt: While console gamers have been squabbling over which system has the best FPS (the Xbox 360 with Halo 3 if you want our opinion), PC gamers have been quietly waiting for their own FPS masterpiece to arrive. Half-Life 2 pretty much started next-gen gaming back in 2004 and developer Valve has now finally managed to release part 3 of the Half-Life 2 story: Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

Half-Life 2: Episode One Xbox 360 Review

DarkZero
2 November 2007
  • Excerpt: Episode One is a bit short, perhaps a bit too short. Unlike most of the other games in the Half Life 2 series, namely the 2004 original and the brand spanking new Episode 2, you never get a feeling that the game has hit its stride, and as a result the set pieces never really reach the highs you expect them to. Furthermore, the game is not quite as easy to fall in love with as the rest of the series due to the distinct absence of brand new ideas.
