Conclusion: Geometry Wars has most definitely evolved but is it a move for the better or the worse? That’s one question I’ll have to leave up to you guys to decide but for all the fun the original game was the new version really does hold a ton of hours of unbelievable fun. Though the older game was aimed more for the hardcore gamer, Evolved 2 looks to have been made and aimed more squarely at the casual gamer and the non-gaming family members.
Conclusion: It offers enough of a challenge to draw in the most determined and skillful and enough action to make it enjoyable for someone looking to just pass the time. To sum up, it does everything you expect from it, and not a great deal more, but that's plenty for it's price and the reason after 7 years it's still selling.
Conclusion: Whether you're just going for a high score, or attempting to unlock any one of the 12 achievements, the game always feels just a little crazy, like it's playing you instead of the other way around. Of course, when you get right down to it, there is only one mode in Geometry Wars, since the only other option is Retro, the unlockable minigame from PGR2, which is simply a lesser-quality version of this game.
Pros: Great-looking, vibrantly colored vector graphics, The sound effects really enhance the overall experience, Perfects the dual-analog feel of gameplay, It only costs $5.
Cons: Can't play online, Not much to the game other than the main mode.
Summary: Though some may think of the Xbox Live Arcade service as merely a conduit for classic or casual games, there is at least one game that defies all stereotyping of this kind. Originally a hidden minigame in Project Gotham Racing 2, Geometry Wars combines dual-analog space-shooting gameplay with futuristic minimalism in a game that's highly reminiscent of arcade classics like Robotron 2084.
Pros: Great-looking, vibrantly colored vector graphics, The sound effects really enhance the overall experience, Perfects the dual-analog feel of gameplay, It only costs $5
Cons: Can't play online, Not much to the game other than the main mode
Summary: One of the most downloaded games on Xbox Live at the time of writing is Geometry Wars. The reason is because it is one of the most fast paced, seizure inducing games on Xbox Live Arcade and not having this game is like not having Halo. It would be foolish to miss out.
Pros: Very addictive, Great graphics, Awesome gameplay
Cons: Can be hard for some, No save progress features, No multiplayer
Excerpt: I can honestly admit I never expected the words “ is good ” and “ Xbox Live Arcade ” to form a sentence that would be emanating from my mouth. I never really expected much to come from it and from the small amount of information I knew about it in the weeks coming up to the 360’s release I thought such an application would succeed. To top it all of I never ever thought I would actually be downloading anything from it come the release of the Xbox 360.
