Conclusion: If you've forgotten just how much fun Gears' 2 multiplayer can be, whether co-op campaign, Horde mode or straight-up ranked play takes your fancy, now would be the time to step back into the fray.
Gears Of War 2 - DLC - All Fronts Collection Review
14 October 2009
Summary: At first glance the latest batch of Gears of War 2 downloadable content ( All Fronts Collections ) may seem a little expensive at 1600ms points but once you realise that it is in fact all previous packs combined into one then it seems to be good value.
Summary: Overall, I found there were a great variety of maps included in Dark Corners and the All Fronts Collection is a mighty sweet combo pack. These 7 maps bring a new flavor to the Gears world of online play. Road to Ruin is not a strong chapter and it’s clear it was deleted for a reason.
Pros: New deleted chapter, every map pack released to date, great maps.
Cons: For those who already purchased any/all of the map packs, All Fronts is not for you.
Excerpt: Gears of War rocked, Gears of War 2 rocked even more and now gamers must wait until Gears of War 3 until they receive their next science fiction adventure that pays homage to movies such as Starship Troopers and Aliens.
Summary: Now, even with the serious third-act problems in the game’s script and the uninspired characters, this is still a very good game. After all,
is, first and foremost, an action game. It’s
is to amuse and entertain, the emphasis on gunfire and testosterone.
Pros: Gameplay is very tight, Horde mode is a joy to play, Excellent Co-op mode
Cons: Story is painful to watch, as are characters, Competitive online is in serious need of tweaking
Excerpt: I'm 5'6" with long hair, so this is pretty escapist for me. I'm also a writer and a musician, and I can't imagine Marcus Fenix's street cred would fair particularly well if he took up these pastimes.
Excerpt: So you stopped the end of the world once? Wanna go do it again? Cue Gears of War 2. Prepare yourself for a whirlwind, ‘coz there’s a storm a-brewin’ in Sera and Marcus Fenix is there to save the day. Again.
Conclusion: Gears of War 2 remains one of the best third-person shooters on the 360, and when played with and against the right kind of people, it also makes up one of the most entertaining online experiences around. As great as the game is, the technical issues and third party exploits severely hamper the fun.
