    While Gears of War 2 bears significant improvements over the series' debut, it doesn't quite go the distance. The visuals are spectacular, the sound is awesome, the weapons and combat features are great and there's enough new stuff to keep both fans and newbies happy. Nonetheless, in terms of gameplay, Gears of War 2 hasn't moved the series forward yet, which should undoubtedly be their goal for the next installment. Read more

    With an explosive single player, improved multiplayer, and an all-around polished feel, Gears of War 2 is better than the original by a large margin. Although the matchmaking system could use some work, the overall feel of the game is one of superior quality. Fans of the first will no doubt enjoy Gears of War 2’s additions while new players will find the wide variety enough to keep coming back for more. Read more

    That Cliff Bleszinski and his crew have taken one of the most beloved Xbox 360 titles and managed to improve on it in every discernable way is nothing short of remarkable. It may not be the evolutionary leap forward for action games that its predecessor was, but rather a logical extension of the groundbreaking original.     We waited two years for Gears of War 2 and it is worth every minute of that wait. Killer visuals, amazing sound, compelling story, tight-polished game play, expansive online play; this is a showcase title.     Awesome campaign! I still don't like the GOW multiplayer. It takes 5-10 minutes to get a game, then someone inevitably drops out of the game and on 5 player teams with ~10 second respawns that is a huge deal. So you wait forever to get a game that is impossible to win. Like most Live! games, the matching system sucks. Advanced players are regularly matched up against novice players, making for less enjoyable gaming on both sides. Read more

    Gears 2 is a GREAT game, probably one of the best ever made. The campaign is incredible and horde mode is fun (but gets boring after a while). The game, however, has some gigantic, game-breaking flaws when you try to play its online XBOX LIVE multiplayer. Matchmaking? Should be called Lagmaking.     Where to begin, lets do the bad first. Was Gears of War better than the first ...yes, but not by much. The story expanded a little but not much. The overall story with the in fighting with the Locust was done very badly. Also the story about the Abandoned Research Lab led no where and was pretty pointless, except a little about Gears of War 3 which I'm sure will be coming out in a couple of years.
