Front Mission Evolved review (X360)

HonestGamers
4 November 2011
  • Excerpt: , Square-Enix and Double Helix take virtually all of the strategy out of the title and leave us with a clunky third-person shooter with an uninspired terrorism plot featuring shallow, one-dimensional characters.

Front Mission Evolved Accessibility Review

ablegamers.com
5 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Front Mission Evolved is set in a near future in which people have apparently evolved enough to develop space elevators, but not enough to stop shooting at each other for pointless reasons. Players take on the role of Dylan Ramsay, a faux-hawked hot-headed engineer whose character development seems non-existent. Dylan is putting the finishing touches on his prototype Wanzer (think BattleTech’s BattleMechs, only with vastly fewer chassis options, equipment types, etc.

Sci-fi shooter offers good action for teens and adults.

Common Sense Media
5 March 2011
  • Summary: Parents need to know that Front Mission Evolved is a third-person shooter with plenty of military violence. Though most of the action involves rockets and machine guns blowing up tanks and robots, players can also take aim at the occasional ground troop. The story makes it clear that the player’s character is a good guy, but he has a very casual attitude toward much of the wanton destruction and killing he sees (and sometimes perpetrates).

Front Mission Evolved

The Gamers Temple
2 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Let's face it – every gamer has a soft spot for giant robots. There is no subtext, double meaning or exception to this rule. My generation cut their nerd teeth on Voltron, Transformers and, to a lesser degree, the Power Rangers, and something about watching a mechanized beast lay waste to creation never really gets old. In the video game world, the giant robot theme has been spread across every genre, from strategy to action and everything in between.

Back to the Future: Get Tannen!

Hooked Gamers
24 February 2011
  • Conclusion: Back To The Future: The Game is one you will be playing for the story rather than any true satisfaction in the gameplay, which in adventure games comes from working out a puzzle that had you stumped. There are a few of these moments in Get Tannen! but not anywhere near enough. That said, getting absorbed into such a great and much-loved franchise, that has been handled pretty well, was enough for us to enjoy it. A word of warning about the third episode though.

Front Mission: Evolved (Xbox360)

EL33TONLINE
26 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Ever since RoboTech I’ve had a thing for big robots. And apparently I was not alone as they were everywhere. I tried to pilot some by playing MechWarrior, but they were simply not agile enough, big lumbering Mechs do not provide the same adrenaline. Metal Gear is better, but you never get to pilot one. I played Transformers: War for Cybertron (we will ignore the movie tie-ins…) but since everything is in scale with the Transformers you don’t actually feel that big.

Front Mission Evolved

Auracore MediaWorks
25 November 2010
  • Summary: More like devolution.
  • Pros: Very responsive controls; an actual mech game with a story.
  • Cons: Customization very watered down; lackluster multiplayer; boss battles have quite the difficulty curve; incompetent ally AI.

Front Mission Evolved

True achievements
3 November 2010
  • Conclusion: The campaign is short, and 100% completion (including side objectives and achievements) in under 10 hours. in short: the game is verry short. if you had played any front mission game before this, you will find this one to be a disapointment. if you like mech games in general, then this game is right for you. but the game is still short. you can rent this game and have it completed before you have to return it. in fact that is what i sugest you do.

Xbox 360 Review - 'Front Mission Evolved'

WorthPlaying
31 October 2010
  • Summary: Front Mission Evolved brings the classic Front Mission franchise into an action-packed third-person shooter that gives players full control of a massive humanoid war machine — the wanzer. Players battle through intense combat situations as they explore an immersive world in both the single-layer campaign and online multiplayer.
