Excerpt: “Come on come on come…, if I can just hit that final apex perfectly then I’ll be right on the back of Button going into the Au Rouge, then maybe, just maybe I can shave an extra couple of tenths off diving through the bus stop chicane. But only if these tyres hold out – I am not repeating that lap four drift again. I can’t, I just have to keep ahead of both Renaults or I won’t have a chance of that Force India drive next year.
Excerpt: Codemasters have a long heritage of making excellent racing games, everything from the TOCA series and the pure Colin McRae rallying games to the more recent examples of GRID and the DiRT series. Let me say just this, when Codemasters are developing a racing game I always know that it’s in very safe hands. Now the publisher and developer have turned their hands to making Formula 1 games, having acquired the licence after Sony decided to stop making games of the sport.
Conclusion: Despite some very minor frustrating moments in the F1 2010, Codemasters has worked hard to bring F1 experience to the small screen and for the most part they have succeeded. It's a gorgeous game with deep gameplay elements and enough fun to make you want to watch an F1 race on television. If you want the best F1 racing game on the market then look no further than F1 2010.
Summary: We've never been able to smell the burning rubber in the scorching sun on an F1 track via our very own Xbox 360 before. That’s why when it was announced that Codemasters had acquired the rights to develop an F1 game I, along with many of you, got very excited. And the product we’re left with, F1 2010.
Pros: Superb graphics, Superb game play, F1 is back baby!
Cons: Minor bugs i.e. pit lane bug, Media interviews could be a lot better, Not really for you if you're not into F1
Excerpt: A World Champion in the making? The first I saw of F1 2010 was when I was sitting in a sports bar watching the NFL. It came to an ad break so I looked away from the screen, then when I looked back there was an F1 car tearing along. But there was something a little odd about it – it looked completely real, but at the bottom of the screen it said “Actual game footage”. Needless to say I eagerly grabbed the opportunity to review it.
Conclusion: The Career mode was the highlight for me in F1 2010. The fact that you can control other aspects of the driver’s life, than just the racing made playing the Career mode that much more personal. You feel more invested in the character, as you want to do well in the races so that you are offered better positions at stronger teams. I definitely recommend spending your week’s wage on this game.
Pros: The detailed cars and tracks, Career Mode, The actual racing
