F.E.A.R Files Xbox 360 Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: The original F.E.A.R delivered tremendously executed shootouts that were both stylish and messy, but the level design appeared to be cobbled together and was seemingly more of a showroom to show off and let the smart AI go to work. F.E.A.R Files contains both expansions, Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, (both of which had a new developer in Timegate) but the original game is a sad omission, especially coming on the heels of the supremely generous offering of the...

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: Lastly, in the personal-upgrade parade, there are Mutagens, which are buffs that you collect in the world, then slot into one of three spaces (one originally, then you unlock the other two). These Mutagens do things such as increase your rage ability, reduce the amount of damage you take, give you more experience points for each kill and so on. You can swap them out as you go.

F.E.A.R Files (Xbox 360) Review

411mania.com
28 June 2008
  • Summary: is a good game, but not one that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath of the original. For an expansion pack, it does its job, but the player will feel like more could have been done to make the expansion packs more worthwhile. gets a solid rental recommendation from me.

F.E.A.R. Files

Strategy Informer
15 March 2008
  • Conclusion: In conclusion F.E.A.R Files offers FPS fans a quick burst of activity before the next triple A title arrives and if you’ve played the original you’ll certainly like this. Extraction Pont may be a weak addition, but Perseus Mandate is certainly worth a look at and we look forward to seeing what the developers can offer in a proper sequel.

F.E.A.R. Files Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: While weapon additions, new enemy challenges and tweaks made to up the intensity of the warfare allow F.E.A.R. Files to feel as a very slight update to the original F.E.A.R. , the untouched graphical package is like stepping into a time machine set to the pre-360 era. Even though the original Xbox 360 game wasn’t necessarily a good looking game a year ago, it’s competition was a bit less stiff which helped when grading the visuals on a curve.

Expert Review

GameSpot
27 November 2007
  • Summary: 2005's F.E.A.R. for the PC was an excellent example of how to blend atmospheric horror and even more atmospheric gun battles together to make for a great first-person shooting experience. But when F.E.A.R. debuted on the Xbox 360 a year ago, 360 gamers didn't get the Extraction Point expansion that later appeared on the PC. Fast forward a year later, and a second expansion, Perseus Mandate, had also been released for the PC.
  • Pros: Two stand-alone F.E.A.R. campaigns for fans that want more, Extraction Point offers a blend of action and atmosphere
  • Cons: Perseus Mandate is the weakest of the F.E.A.R. games, It's also the ugliest
