Conclusion: Overall this isn’t a bad game as such and in short bursts can be quite enjoyable, but prolonged periods will start to drag and become monotonous. But credit must be given for combining the old school thrills of 2D side scrollers with the looting and quest systems of most MMO’s. With a few tweaks here and there this could be a great game but as it stands it’s just above average.
Dungeon Fighter Live: Fall of Hendon Myre (XBLA) Review
3 August 2012
Summary: is actually an interesting game with friends around. The combat is good and there’s plenty of loot to find and dungeons to crawl through. However, some mechanic choices keep this from being anything better than alright.
Conclusion: Dungeon Fighter LIVE is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Suggestive Themes, Violence, Blood and Gore, and Use of Tobacco. You do punch and kick all manner of goblins, demons, and other monsters, and they do explode into pixelly bits when defeated. But it’s not really that gory. In some of the comic book style story sections, you can see blood on the ground and on injured people. And one person in the comics smokes a cigarette in a panel.
Excerpt: When Nexon launched Dungeon Fighter Online for PC a while back, it provided a different kind of MMORPG experience, giving players the chance to battle enemies, but instead of casting spells and letting other minions do the dirty work, it incorporated classic beat-em-up gameplay, similar to the likes of Golden Axe and Final Fight .
Conclusion: Multiplayer is a big part of the draw, and the game offers both local and online drop in/drop out co-operative play. If you are going to get any fun out of Dungeon Fighter Live, online play is a necessity, and works well enough, despite the same lack of intuitiveness present in the match making system as in the rest of the game. There are also plenty of technical issues to contend with.
Excerpt: A mysterious illness plagues the realm, spread by the likes of goblins, minotaurs, and the restless undead. As a brawling Fighter, a sword-swinging Slayer, or a pistol-twirling Gunner, your job is to sally forth into this side-scrolling beat-'em-up adventure and end the blight. Dungeon Fighter Live 's vivid assortment of seemingly hand-drawn environments pop off the screen, and each is stuffed with colorful critters.
Pros: + Pretty characters, monsters, and environments; lots of skills to learn and equipment to find; frenzied co-op.
Dungeon Fighter Live: Fall of Hendon Myre Xbox 360 Review
15 August 2012
Excerpt: I have always liked the idea behind Dungeon Fighter Online . The thought of Streets of Rage or Golden Axe mixed with the blend of RPG and dungeon crawling with online multiplayer is something I could immediately embrace. The problem is Nexon will not let me play the game since I live in the UK and Dungeon Fighter Online is not available to play in this country.
