List All 1 PricesWhen you’re racing, "Dirt 2" is a fantastic, rich experience, with beautiful visuals, pumping sound, and great AI. Also, the world tour is excellently presented, and the fact that you now get competitive multiplayer means there are some great updates over the first title that makes it fresh to play still. Codemasters is a company that has been experiencing a methodical transformation over the past few years. In a time long past (all of three years ago), the company was releasing some of the most realistic and hardcore simulations on consoles.
Again, I say this as someone who's been playing the Colin McRae games ever since the first one came out; DiRT 2 is still a great racing game. While it doesn't deliver the kind of comprehensive single-player like in earlier CMR titles, it certainly stands on its own and adds many welcomed elements to the license (hence the higher mark). There’s something about racing that just gets you going. The rev of the engine, the speed, and let’s face it, the cars. These shiny, exotic pieces of art can make grown men cry. In Dirt 2 we leave the well mannered vehicular eye-candy and asphalt tracks and highways behind for some off road, high speed, roll your car in a ditch fun. Read more

Though some parts of the game tend to be frustrating in how poorly they were handled, Dirt 2 is still a good, fun racing game in a genre that's underrepresented on every console. This is one of those strange games that manages to exceed the sum of its parts, that being a hodgepodge of off-road racing styles thrown together and tied together with the whole X-Games thing. Dirt 2 is an exceptionally well made, accessible racing game. While some hardcore racing fans may not like some of the arcade-style aspects of it, most gamers will be won over by the brilliant graphics and addictive gameplay. Wheres the first Dirt1 game focused on "normal" rally driving this one is aimed at giving you a more varied driving experience. However there are a couple of things that really irritates me about this game: 1: the music, I would rather turn the music down completely than listen to that fake-metal-pubescent-teen/emo crap...if you are going to use Metal use proper Metal 2: the menu system, it looks like something designed by-and-for 15-year olds with hyperactivity problems... Dirt 2 is easily the best rally game available, it has a large variety of cars, including rally cars, rally raid trucks and buggies. The game has amazing graphics with great dust effects behind the cars. The cars also feature basic damage models, no deformation but parts of the car can break off. The games tracks vary in location, spread across the world, from America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Read more

I'm replaying DiRT on the PC and I really don't get why developers don't just use realistic physics. It really is easier. Sure, there's more finesse required, but it's not actually harder. It's easier because real-world physics are more predictable. It's impossible to powerslide across a hairpin when there's so much traction, and the brakes are so powerful that using them for anything other than stopping for a first gear turn is going to upset the car's balance, so... After purchasing DiRT a few years back, I preordered the sequel as soon as it was announced, and boy did it deliver. DiRT 2 is easily one of the best looking racers/games on the market, and the trailblazer events are some of the most fun i’ve had on a racer. On the down side, i was kinda suprised to see that only about 25% of the races are actually a-b sprints, i wouldve expected more from a mcrae game. Read more

Great racing game, an alternative to NfS Shift or Forza 3. Takes a few races to get used to the drifting, but has plenty of game modes and events to keep you entertained for hours. It could do with more cars to choose from and earning money is way too easy. Read more
