Although I have nothing but the utmost respect for Sparky, my brilliant and highly-regarded fellow reviewer, I have to be honest when I say that this is one case when he and I are absolutely, utterly, diametrically opposed. In fact, I couldn't possibly disagree with his final analysis of Deadly Premonition more than I do. He's certainly dead-on about the production values and combat, but I part ways with him on the rest. Read more

Deadly Premonition is that rare game that makes you question just about everything you think you know about what makes a game good. At first glance, it looks like a ridiculously sub-par D-list horror title, and, to a degree, it is. Read more

Of course, there's more (a whole lot more) things that made me want to keep playing beyond the purpose of review. But let's be clear: Deadly Premonition is not a good game. Not in the sense that we use to quantify and rate games, anyway. The problems are pronounced and obvious, but somehow it has a charm and appeal that defies logic. This game is not for everyone. Deadly Premonition , while lacking in the aesthetic aspect, is a surprisingly entertaining game. Its $19.99 price point may make gamers overlook it, assuming it’s either really short or total crap but neither is the truth. Deadly Premonition is one of those rare games that slip under the radar. There are a few every generation, they're games that eventually become cult classics, and garner a devout following. It's the rare games like these that remind us why we play games. It's a shame that so many gamers will never even hear about FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan and the Raincoat Killer, because the game has so much to offer. Read more
- amazing story, it's basically Twin Peaks the game, awesome soundtrack, it's only $30, 15+ hours solid gameplay, great balance of horror and comedy

The somewhat boring truth is that Deadly Premonition isn’t a game that will forever shake up videogames, but neither is it one whose flaws mark it out as a failed experiment. Instead it may yet become a key game for its approach to the feel of horror videogaming; ugly, inelegant and excessively linear it may be in many places, but Deadly Premonition is also very hard to forget, and the aforementioned sense of intent on the part of the developers works in its favour.
