Excerpt: Anyone familiar with me knows that I am a huge Dead or Alive fan. In fact Team Ninja’s masterpiece is one of the few games to don the coveted ZTGD “Perfect 10” score on our review scale. So no surprise when I heard that the next iteration was coming to Xbox 360 this fall I was ecstatic. It’s been a long time since I have gotten a truly new DOA experience, not to mention being able to experience it on next-gen hardware with full XB Live support.
Conclusion: With a bit more work refining the inventory and A.I. systems, and additional QA testing, Hitman: Blood Money would easily be one of my top three Xbox 360 games at the moment. The game’s basic concept, and IO’s commitment to give gamers a multiple paths to an ending while still pushing for “transparency” should be applauded. But a two year 47 hiatus and no real signs of an inventory system or A.I. improvement hurts like a 7.62mm round to the spleen.
Conclusion: Yet there’s trouble in paradise. Dead or Alive as a game series has always featured bosses whose attacks and abilities far outrange those of the player characters. For 4, a liquid-metal version of the female fighter Kasumi proves frustrating to an extreme. She can teleport away from attacks, counters strikes with a vengeance, and rolls off 10-plus hit combinations as a matter of course. This is Tecmo’s stab at making the game hardcore, and it fails spectacularly.
Conclusion: Put simply, Dead or Alive 4 is the best fighter Team Ninja has ever put together and it is easily the best looking game to play on the Xbox 360 in it’s early stages. If this game is any indication of what’s to come, we are in for some mind blowing experiences in the coming year. Anyone who considers themselves a fan of the fighter genre must pick up a copy of Dead or Alive 4 .
Excerpt: Boobs. Okay, I just started a review with the word “boobs” – life goal number 1784 checked off. *ahem* Where was I? Oh yes: boobs; actually, not just boobs, but enormous, inexplicably perky breasts that challenge everything you ever learned in physics class. That’s what the Dead or Alive series has been known for ever since the original was released way back in 1996.
Excerpt: Name: Dead or Alive 4 Genre: 1-2 Type: Fighting System: Xbox 360 There are some game series that should have stopped years ago; games that people continue to buy, regardless of the quality, out of a sense of nostalgia or optimism.
Excerpt: Dead or Alive 4 is the first game I've ever played that has caused rapid hair loss due to stress. I swear I've lost more hair while playing this game than my entire family has in three generations. My thumbs are also blistered, which is about the nerdiest thing I've ever experienced, and I'm pretty sure I'm suffering from a mild case of insomnia thanks to a certain never-ending two-round fight in Time Attack mode.
Conclusion: First off stack able achievements and issues like no punishing of quitters are not things that in my opinion should lower a games score plus those things are in the hands of the player i mean you don't have to play this game, what matters is the actual game you are playing and the only issue would be some minor hit detection issues ( characters going thru moves) and a couple of exploits from some characters other than that this game is a challenge and you will enjoy it...
