Darkest of Days

Game Over Online
26 January 2010
  • Excerpt: It’s Like… …I’ve kidnapped my colleague Adam Fleet’s review format. I’m a fan, what can I say. As for Darkest of Days… It’s Like… …an episode of Quantum Leap that keeps freezing up on your TV. You play as Alexander Morris, a soldier fighting in General Custer’s army during the Battle of Little Big Horn. Just as you’re about to bite the arrow, a man from the future whisks you away to…the future.

Darkest of Days (Xbox 360)

ccgr.org
26 January 2010
  • Excerpt: This is not a good game, and I will make absolutely no attempt to hide that fact. Darkest of Days is a budget-priced game made by a small studio with a vision much too large for their level of experience. The idea by 8monkeys Lab’s production is solid—it’s hard not to grin at the thought of travelling through a few of history’s greatest wars—but the execution is so lacking that I find myself in horrific awe at how this game could be sold in its present state.
  • Pros: A strong sense of the player’s insignificance in a much larger conflict
  • Cons: Choppy frame-rate, uninspired missions, weak story

Darkest Of Days

True achievements
22 January 2010
  • Conclusion: The game also features the coolest achievement ever, "kill a horse by punching it in the face." Which is worth a cool 100 points. I would not recommend this game for anyone unless they need to add an easy 1000 points to their gamerscore. You can find hundreds of games that do everything this game does just done way better.

Darkest of Days

The Gamers Temple
7 December 2009
  • Excerpt: Darkest of Days has an interesting premise - in a future in which time travel is a possibility, someone is putting people in harm's way in historical battles, battles that they should have survived. You work with an organization dedicated to maintaining the timeline, and your job is to go back in time to those battles and make sure that the people destined to survive those battles actually do.

Darkest of Days Review (Xbox 360)

Chip Chick
6 December 2009
  • Excerpt: Once and a while a video game comes along that takes your average video game and turns it into something special, Darkest of Days happens to be just ...
  • Pros: An ambitious game that tries to give you a history lesson but still exhibit the guts and glory of a FPS war game.
  • Cons: Its difficulty could scare away casual gamers or those new to the genre. Those who are history buffs may be turned off by the historical inaccuracies in the game.

Review: Darkest of Days (Microsoft Xbox 360)

Diehard GameFAN
3 December 2009
  • Summary: Darkest of Days takes you through some of the worst battles in the worst conflicts in human history, and tasks you with making sure that they happened correctly. A brand new game engine puts a lot of enemies on the screen at once, but works much better at large battles than small fights.

  • Summary: Interesting Indie Title? Yes. Ready for the Xbox main stage? No.
  • Pros: Indie game love; neat mix of weapons; interesting concept; later levels feature great gameplay.
  • Cons: Terrible 360 port; graphics not up to modern standards; lots of non-fatal glitches; slow story; overvalued price point.

Darkest of Days

Xbox Evolved
11 October 2009
  • Summary: Overall, Darkest of Days is your pretty average first-person shooter with a very different kind of storyline. The game takes of to a slow start which may make you not want to play it anymore but furthering into the game and learning the storyline, the game actually becomes quite interesting. This game is nothing special and obviously was not trying to become the next big shooter but for at least a new approach on games, it's not too bad of a game for at least a rent.
  • Pros: Nice innovative approach and story for a game and some of the weapons are a ball to have.
  • Cons: Graphics are nothing to wow at, A.I. is sloppy, a few bad level designs, no multiplayer or co-op, an
