Excellent but ultimately too hard for its own good

Summary: Dark Souls, as you've probably read from the other 323 reviews here, is a dark fantasy RPG legendary for its difficulty, obtuse-ness and mostly excellent combat system. When tasked to explain this game to one of my buddies recently, this is exactly what I said: "It's an awesome game, but you're going to die about 500 times at least. But you should still give it a try!" Not surprisingly, he hasn't tried it yet haha.
Summary: Dark Souls is a freakin' awesome game! It's totally unlike any other game I've ever played before. It has made me think about how I play video games and drastically alter my standard "Charge in, mash buttons, rub weapons on enemies till dead, maybe use shield once" routine. Dark Souls is a lot of fun because of the challenge it poses; even minor enemies can kill you in just a few hit, which forces one to play defensively as well as think both strategically and...
Summary: THE GOOD: Insanely hard gameplay, very rewarding to win. GORGEOUS graphics; when you enter Dark Souls, you can't help but get sucked in. The world is dying, your not making things better, your just a hapless passerby in the visceral decay of the world. The game really is seamless, it feels like an old school arcade RPG. Combat for PvP is also kind of intriguing, I would have loved to see more multiplayer here, but it's definitely not something that can be just be added.
Summary: This game is extremely rewarding, but I would not advise this to the average gamer. The combat is very fair, but you truly have to spend time getting well versed at the combat system before proceeding. if you havent played demon souls before, you will probably find the learning curve pretty steep as I did. The first few areas killed me over a hundred times. But after you learn the methods to kill one type of enemy it's totally fine.
Summary: WARNING: if you buy this game do not expect to live long. If you get really angry if you die a bunch do not buy this game please. The gameplay of this game is okay the only thing I don't really like is that when ever you "pause" the game you don't actually pause it. If your are in a fight and want to use a different weapon you will still be fighting in your inventory. Also when you heal yourself, all the characters you have killed come back to life. This is a hard game.
Summary: When i started playing this game i though i would die but i didnt i beat the first boss in one try well i watch some guides before i played but still the first level is easy next you get put into this big world and its prettyy overwhelming at first but then you start adventuring in whatever direction you wanna go you start mastering the contols knowing when to wait and strike knowing when to block and sometimes knowing when to run away from certain enemies because you...
Summary: I like this game a lot, but if you're the kind of person who hates repetitive gameplay and having to do things over and over this game is not for you. Between the epic bossfights, enemies, and beautiful scenery, darksouls is one of the hardest games I've played. You will die, again and again and again.
Summary: Is Dark Souls one of the best games of this generation? Yes. Now, is it a game you will actually want to play? That depends. I'm sure that, if you're reading this review now, a year after the game has been released, you are most likely someone whose interest has been piqued due to A) the $19.99 budget price it's at now and/or B) it's near legendary status on the internet (wikis, forums, etc). You've heard that it's hard. You've heard that it doesn't hold your hand.
