Crash: Mind Over Mutant

Game Boyz
12 May 2010
  • Excerpt: My first thought when the latest Crash Bandicoot game, Mind Over Mutant, arrived on my desk was “Oh no, another mascot platformer”. So have to admit I did not have high expectations for it given that I am slightly tainted by these types of games. It is a good thing I kept my expectations to a minimum too as Mind over Mutant has a few too many issues for my liking. That being said it does have many enjoyable aspects and young Crash fans may just enjoy his latest outing.

Just How Far Can a Franchise Fall?

Game Informer
22 September 2009
  • Excerpt: The back of Mind Over Mutant's box is misleading. It lists two-player co-op, monster control, and Crash's signature fighting style as the game's standout features. These elements are certainly present, but they take a back seat to the real feature set: unpredictable framerates, extensive backtracking, and the guarantee of one death caused by faulty camera positioning for every platforming segment. These inexcusable qualities corrupt the entire experience.

  • Excerpt: “You should never go back” is a quote which we can all apply to an experience during our lifetime. Maybe you’ve moved back to a place you once loved as a child only to return without those rose tinted lenses. Maybe you’ve decided to give your old sweetheart from school another chance only to realise you don’t like her anymore, or just maybe the newest instalment of a classic series of old hits the shelves, only to discover the main character has a new voice, has lost of...

Expert Review

Brutal Gamer
21 November 2008
  • Excerpt: Crash: Mind over Mutant is (probably) the eleventy-hundred and fourth (Well… fifteenth) installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, and the latest game staring the games hero known as “Crash” to reach the market. The game is currently available for pretty much every console (including the DS and PSP) apart from the PS3 and was many people’s (myself included) first love for the ‘ole Playstation One. On with the review!

Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant

Xbox 360 achievements
13 November 2008
  • Conclusion: Mind Over Mutant has the building blocks of a great platformer, but with a dearth of content and an inexcusable amount of back-tracking, it's impossible to recommend this game for anything more than a rental.

Crash: Mind Over Mutant

Gamer vision
20 October 2008
  • Excerpt: Name: Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant Genre: Platformer Platform: Xbox 360, PSP, Wii, PS2, DS (Reviewed on 360) When the Crash Bandicoot series made its debut on the original PlayStation in 1996, it was an instant hit, and is still remembered as a classic from that generation. The series propelled the spinning bandicoot to stardom, making Crash a console mascot akin to Sonic or Mario, despite being a third-party character.
