Poker Smash Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: In another twist to the usual puzzle formula, the game regularly adds bonus challenges in the form of specific hands that the player can try to match within a set time limit. There’s no penalty for failing these challenges, but every time you score a match, you land a nice little stash of chips and points. To help beat the house odds, the devs made sure to give players a couple of aces to stash up their sleeves.

Crackdown

XboxGamers
5 December 2007
  • Summary: Crackdown is the latest game from Realtime Worlds for the Xbox 360. This game puts you in a futuristic world, ridding the streets of vicious gangs using whatever means available. You can pretty much go anywhere in this city, and upgrading your skills will allow you to do so quickly and easily.

GamesAreFun
18 October 2007
  • Excerpt: It does give the game a wash, rinse, repeat feel since you do the same thing on each island. But as you progress through the different islands, the gangs become tougher as their weapons improve and their total numbers grow. To help better combat the enemies, your character is able to grow in five different skill areas: agility (helps jumping and running speed), driving (lets you control cars better), explosives (ups the effectiveness of explosives), strength (lets you...

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: There are a lot of good games on the Xbox 360 but there are few that are as genuinely fun to play as Crackdown. The feeling you get from soaring higher and higher into the air as your character develops is intoxicating, and I actually found myself regarding the real world in new ways. I noticed ledges I never saw before and looked for jumpable gaps between buildings. I've never been too concerned with Achievements but Crackdown has made a believer out of me.

Crackdown

ActionTrip
27 February 2007
  • Conclusion: Overall Crackdown is a cool concept. If you really want to challenge yourself, then there is a lot more you can do but for most of us, the fun will end when the last boss falls to the ground. However, I believe it stands on it own. Even without the H3 beta thrown in. Taken all together, the complete package is worth every penny. I almost think they should have thrown the Beta on a game that wasn't this good.
  • Pros: Leveling up abilities is addictive while it last. Open-ended game play is really open. Halo 3 beta. Co-op can be really fun. Blowing stuff up and hurling cars.
  • Cons: Not much extra content that "means" anything. Open-ended might be too open. Lack of progressive story-line might put some people off.

Crackdown Review

Strategy Gaming Online
22 February 2007
  • Excerpt: Not every game lets you make a perfectly accurate sniper shot to center of mass while in a 300-foot freefall. Nor do most games let you pick up a city bus, jump while carrying it up to a nearby roof, then make a kamikaze throw-bus-while-diving-off move. The end result is of course seeing a few Eastern European gang members smushed who have conveniently lined up to make their smushing easy.

Crackdown

Auracore MediaWorks
20 February 2007
  • Summary: Enough fun and addiction to warrant an intervention.
  • Pros: 500 green orbs and 300 "hidden" orbs to find; lots of leveling to do; addictive gameplay; rewards exploration and cunning; great graphical style; vast, expansive city to jump around in; controls are spot-on.
  • Cons: No real main character (not that it matters); no story (ditto); repetitive; no multiplayer modes besides co-op; vehicles don't control as well as expected; once you've maxed out your character, the fun takes a dive.
