Counter Strike: Global Offensive Review
6 November 2012
Conclusion: The Counter-Strike series started as a popular mod for the original Half-Life in 2003. It has since swelled into a massive franchise, with a half-dozen games across multiple platforms and tens of millions of copies sold. Global Offensive, released on PC, 360, and PS3, is the newest release in the franchise.
Pros: Cheap, at $15, Fun new gametypes, Same fast-paced shooter gameplay
Cons: Lightweight on the shipped maps, Visuals are updated, but the Source engine is getting rusty, With all of the innovation in shooters the last few years, the old formula isn’t really turning heads any more, even for a grandaddy like Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Review (Xbox 360)
3 October 2012
Conclusion: Some may squabble over some minor changes here or there but whether you started from the initial release or jumped in somewhere thereafter, the core gameplay still holds up surprisingly well. The crisp, clean graphics lend themselves well to the multiplayer setting. People who played the original may feel a little too at home considering all the classic maps are simply remakes but the prices helps to mitigate that significantly.
Conclusion: Concept: Give console players the Counter-Strike they’ve been waiting for while still nurturing the PC fanbase
Graphics: Animations are stiff, but the classic maps look better than ever
Sound: With less chaos than other FPS titles, this feels like being in a library by comparison
Playability: Performs admirably with a controller, but a keyboard and mouse is still the best option for this series
Entertainment: Longtime fans should appreciate this update, but it may be a...
Excerpt: Counter-Strike ’s over a decade old, yet gunmen continue to kidnap hostages and plant explosives on PCs around the world. And for good reason: it's a well-honed balance of trigger-happy action and rewarding tactical teamwork. However, Global Offensive 's simplistic core betrays its age. Retrieving captives and defusing bombs still rattles nerves, and the eight Classic-mode maps are still textbook examples of thoughtful level design.
Pros: + Aged but winning core of demanding and dynamic team-focused tactics., + Exciting and fast-paced Arms Race and Demolition modes rejuvenate interest, even if underwhelming visual upgrades don't.
Cons: ? Why do so few players seem to possess headsets?
Summary: Counter-Strike set the bar high for the FPS titles that followed it, but is this new version enough to go toe to toe with the new kings of the genre? Find out what's old, what's new, and if Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is worth picking up in our review.
Pros: Great improvement in graphics, Weapons course is surprisingly fun, New modes are highly enjoyable
Cons: Where's the new stuff?, Still no ironsights, How long until the new rating system kicks in?
Summary: Counter-Strike always was - and still remains - a PC game. Despite being recognisable and very playable on 360, it feels alien even with a number of changes to the 12 year old formula, designed to make the brutal, unforgiving combat more console friendly. While that means Global Offensive never betters the best-in-class online shooters designed with Xbox in mind (like Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Halo 3) it does offer a cut-price alternative, and often highlights the...
Pros: Superbly balanced maps and action, Everyone has access to all guns, Simple to understand
Counter-Strike – Global Offensive: Valve macht Hoffnung auf PS3-Version
10 October 2014
Summary: Vor über einem Monat startete „Counter-Strike – Global Offensive“ auf Heimcomputer und Konsole.
