Excerpt: After having high hopes for Tim Schafer’s Brutal Legend and, in turn, being disappointed with the end product, it’s safe to say that any claims of caution with Costume Quest are valid. As an RPG mashed with an adventure title, Costume Quest does enough to hold interest, but fails to provide any incentives to return to the title after completion.
Costume Quest Review: Too Much Trick, Not Enough Treat
20 October 2010
Conclusion: Concept: Go from door to door with a variety of costumes, collecting candy and fighting monsters
Graphics: Visuals are simple, but the cohesive style means everything looks like it belongs
Sound: Some voiced dialogue instead of auto-scrolling text would have been nice
Playability: Features like a minimap and save points are missing, adding needless complication
Entertainment: Good dialogue isn’t enough to save the experience from a tedious combat system
