Excerpt: Xbox LIVE arcade games are usually short quirky affairs that focus on one or two features and provide around five hours of entertainment. But then there are games like Castle Crashers that just overflow with content and keep you busy for hours without end.
Conclusion: Despite the best efforts of Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom it only manages to feel mediocre. In fairness, there is nothing technically wrong with the game and it will be brilliant for younger kids to play, as it is still quite a charming experience. The problem is that it just feels like a mash up of things we have seen and done before (I have a detailed list) and there is nothing in the game that struck me as innovative.
Pros: Sprightly and charming, the partnership works well, combat is quite innovative, constant sense of achievement.
Cons: Lacks space and a sense of freedom, can get a little repetitive, not much replay value, very linear and a little too familiar.
Excerpt: Ultimate Fighting Championship. A fighting institution that by acronym alone brings to mind the brutal fighting that takes place between two trained fighters, fists and feet flying in quick succession with the one strike being the difference between the victor and the loser. Submissions. Throws. Pinning the opponent to the mat.
Excerpt: For those who have been crying about the absence of new brawlers, Castle Crashers has arrived to save you from your lamentations. The game is a hilarious adventure through medieval countrysides, enemy-filled castles, and venting volcanoes in search of true love[s], as well as the end of evil. It has some online issues, but storming a castle has never been more fun. You and your band of knights must rescue the princesses from the evil horde.
Pros: Crisp art design really makes the game shine, Multiple game modes are fun to play with friends or alone, Eclectic original soundtrack makes each level feel unique, Boss fights entertain as much as they challenge, Genuinely amusing sense of humor
Cons: Online connection issues handicap the multiplayer experience, Not as many features as you'd hope for
Conclusion: There are some other online modes which are fucking dull and not worth playing after getting the achievements, although there is a special chance to make randoms really angry by going in to ranked "all you can eat" matches and using a turbo controller. Oh, and there is a deer that shits itself. In summary; 11/10. Game of the year. Last year, this year, and next year. And all following years.
Summary: All in all, Castle Crashers is just fun. You’ll laugh the whole time you play the game as you pound your swords into the heads of the goons or smite them with lightning. There is a ton of content for the low price and better yet, you get to enjoy it all with your friends. The game can present a challenge at times, but nothing you can’t overcome with a few tries.
