Summary: ...but I couldn't get into it. Now granted, its a few years old, and graphically we've come a long way, but, the 360 processor is the same as then, and graphically it just doesnt hold up. Sound is good - I like Western's, ergo, I like Western Games, and all the nuances, such as music that go with it. However, it can't save the gameplay, which is horrible. Other reviewers have called it linear, and thats an understatement.
Summary: Normally I do not write reviews for games but this one just deserved it. I was excited as hell when this was announced but I got it really later on for only 25 dollars. The game was relatively okay at first till I got to about episode 7 which took me like an hour and a half mainly because Billy has almost no skill other than shooting an arrow. This game would have been great with only the reverand but Billy's sneaking and platforming ruined it.
Summary: I rented this game in the hopes of finding a red dead revolver for the 360...it was a swing and a miss. It's not that the game is terrible, but in no way would the gameplay justify spending 60 dollars. If you are a gamer who just likes to play every new game that comes on the market give it a try, but rent, don't buy.
Conclusion: I'm going to start off by stating that I am in no way as forgiving as the team XBOX reviewer. I bought Call of Juarez on a whim because westerns are few and far in between. You figure with a genre that bearly has any titles it'd be very hard to screw it up, well friend you'd be wrong. The team XBOX review focuses on the storyline portion so I won't be going over that, please visit that review page if you are interested in that.
Summary: I was thrilled a western action shooter was being released on xbox 360 but this is one of the worst western games ever released. Everything about it is disappointing. Graphics, gameplay, weaponry are all below average. Save your time and money. No one should be calling Juarez anytime soon.
Don't compare to Gun. Outlaws! the greatest western game
5 February 2010
Conclusion: I brought this game as i love westerns , lots of people have compared this to gun. well I'm not going to I'm going to compare this to Outlaws, a pc game made in 1994-95. This game playability looks like it was made by a bunch of geeky western fans. Outlaws is far superior, I doubt that i'll buy another western game in much life as they have all been totally pathetic (apart from Outlaws, Gun was great but not long enough).
Summary: First off the graphics are really quite good... however this unfortunately does not make a great game, and i would much prefer to play a great game with poor graphics than this game which left me a little bit bored and once again dissapointed by the lack of depth of a wild west game. Essentially you play as Billy, and Reverend Ray (at least i think it is rev. Ray... you can see how much i was intrigued by the storyline), and you swap between the two as you go along.
