Call Of Duty: World At War: Reviewed (360, PS3)

mature-gaming.com
7 September 2013
  • Excerpt: Let’s be perfectly honest here, we have all been, at one point or another, big fans of Call of Duty. Whether it is the original creators of the series or the pretenders to the throne, Infinity Ward and Treyarch respectively, their games have stayed popular for many years now. Last year Modern Warfare really raised the bar for a lot of people to follow with a fresh perk system and a new direction away from the harsh landscapes of World War II.

Call of Duty World at War's Map Pack One

  • Excerpt: Downloadable content tends to be a mixed bag of major reception and praise, to no one caring to buy it at all. It is difficult to determine if the value placed upon the content is worth the points you spent on it.

  • Excerpt: Just when we thought we were all sick and tired of shooters, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came along and rejuvenated the whole experience. Both the single player and online experience were quite a thrill ride. Needless to say, the recently released follow up Call of Duty: World at War had some mighty big shoes to fill.

Call of Duty: World at War

  • Conclusion: At any rate, you'll find that as a single-player experience, the game is far too short and lacks the compelling ambience of Modern Warfare. However, the multiplayer, more specifically the co-op, is where this game truly shines and from that perspective comes highly recommended from us.
  • Pros: Four-player co-op kept us busy for days, Nazi zombie mode, character animation, explosions, sound-effects, music;
  • Cons: Short and disappointing single-player, weak story, you've played this before... believe me; same old weapons, same old setting.

Call of Duty: World at War

xboxachievements.com
24 November 2008
  • Conclusion: Overall it’s hard to see what Treyarch were aiming for here, as the story retreads old ground and most of the set-piece moments seem to have been lifted directly from the previous games. Coupled with dodgy A.I and the ever present endless rush of foes and it’s just not that great.

Call of Duty: World at War

media-assault.com
23 November 2008
  • Excerpt: Every year for the past 3 years, the holiday season has meant a new next-generation Call of Duty game. Up until last year, every entry in the series has been a World War II-based shooter. Last year's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare , however, brought the series into the present day and, thanks to a new graphics engine and a spectacular multiplayer mode, it was met with thunderous praise from gamers everywhere.
