  • Summary: How do you follow what is arguably one of the best first-person-shooters ever? By imitating it as closely as possible, that’s how. And that is exactly what Treyarch has done with Call of Duty: World At War. It takes the amazing multiplayer, great controls, and amazing gameplay of COD4: Modern Warfare and tweaks and spins it (and takes it through a time warp back to World War II) to create a new adventure that is every bit as solid as its predecessor.

Call Of Duty: World At War: Reviewed (360, PS3)

mature-gaming.com
7 September 2013
  • Excerpt: Let’s be perfectly honest here, we have all been, at one point or another, big fans of Call of Duty. Whether it is the original creators of the series or the pretenders to the throne, Infinity Ward and Treyarch respectively, their games have stayed popular for many years now. Last year Modern Warfare really raised the bar for a lot of people to follow with a fresh perk system and a new direction away from the harsh landscapes of World War II.

Call of Duty World at War's Map Pack One

Gamer Limit

  • Excerpt: Downloadable content tends to be a mixed bag of major reception and praise, to no one caring to buy it at all. It is difficult to determine if the value placed upon the content is worth the points you spent on it.

Call of Duty: World at War

True achievements
5 January 2009
  • Conclusion: Positives • I thought it was the best fps game based around the events of WW2 • Living different parts of the war had not been done before • The multiplayer was good • The Nazi Zombie was a great hit as it allowed people to show off their skills against the Zombie apocalypse Negatives • Due to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being released a year before this game, many people believe that this was a step back on the Call of Duty franchise • Graphics were decent • Veteran...

  • Summary: I'll be honest; I had a number of trepidations going into this year's Call of Duty installment. My biggest concern was the game's return to the 1940s fighting a war that we've fought over and over again in countless World War II shooters. Last year's Call of Duty 4 proved to be something of a revolution, what with its brand new settings, original story, fantastic weapons and amazing storytelling.

  • Summary: If you absolutely must have a World War 2 theme, this is the game to buy. However, if you either don’t care about the theme or if you prefer something a bit more modern, “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” is a much better choice. Either way, no gamer who owns a next-gen console should be without at least one of these 2 games.
  • Pros: -Outstanding visual presentation., -Hyper-realistic sound quality., -Very cool story., -Nazi Undead mode is perhaps the best thing to ever come from this series., -Online gameplay is almost completely lag free., -Controls are extremely tight and responsive.
  • Cons: -Extremely bad weapon balance., -Tanks break the game., -The rank system is horribly broken., -Most maps have very poor design., -Campaign is extremely short and rather easy, even on Veteran difficulty., -Nazi Undead mode only has a single map., -“Day One Advantage” marketing campaign is a slap to the face.

  • Excerpt: Just when we thought we were all sick and tired of shooters, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came along and rejuvenated the whole experience. Both the single player and online experience were quite a thrill ride. Needless to say, the recently released follow up Call of Duty: World at War had some mighty big shoes to fill.
