Heavy stuff until one realizes the universe of Brütal Legend has sprung up from the mind of legendary game director Tim Schafer. Enter the world of Heavy Metal where mountains are made of amplifiers, killer spiders spin guitar strings, …
Granting Brütal Legend a numeric score is difficult because it’s so uneven. At its best it tops out at near a 9. At its worst it glitches and requires a restart. For metal fans there is a thrill at the great soundtrack that includes some awesome newer stuff like Dethklok’s Murmaider, as well as a good mix of classics and some Guitar Hero gimmes like Dragonforce. Furthermore, the number of musicians with serious cred who did voice work for the game is astounding. It... Read more
Earlier this year it was not clear if Brutal Legend would ever actually make it to the market. Had this happened gamers, would truly have missed a fun, visually unique and pleasing world that every mature player should enjoy, even with its limited short comings. However, other titles from Tim and company have also received similar compliments in the past and still garnered less than stellar sales when they were first released. Now is the chance for gamers to reward... Read more
Overall, Brutal Legend is an exciting journey into Metal lore that encompasses many genres into one beautifully blended and innovative product. The creators of Pyschonauts have got another great hit on their game with few flaws. The story is engrossing, and if nothing else you want to continue playing just to see what happens next, and to hear the next song and how well it blends with what is happening on the screen. The little flaws are minor control issues, short... Read more
Brutal Legend won us over with its complete package: the aspects that are decidedly outside “gaminess” are its strongest and most lovable. The dialogue made us laugh, and not just a little. We cared about the characters enough to feel sad to say goodbye to them. We never got bored of exploring its world and continued to do so after completing the main story. Sure, the basic combat and finicky RTS commands don’t hugely inspire, but they managed to satisfy enough.... Read more
Some people say that too many cooks spoil the broth. Some may also argue that too many gameplay styles may spoil the game! "Brütal Legend" nearly cocks it up by attempting to mash open world, driving, RTS and hack-n-slash elements into one package. Thankfully, tight balancing of unit types, reasonable controls, great art design and the fantastic audio save the project from disaster. Read more
I had high expectations but heard that it was no Modern Warfare 2. Given that I started playing almost expecting the worst. This was probably the funnest game I've played in a while. The story is top notch and the voice acting just adds to it. The game play doesn't bring anything new to the table but that means they didn't mess it up by trying to do something the game wasn't going to do well. All I could think of after finishing the game is when it Brutal Legend 2 going... Read more
Well, I could write a full review, or a whole article about it on my website, but for once, the majority and some critics have it all covered already. Amazing art, design and music, and an incredible world, wasted on what's simply a poor game. So much has been said about its flaws already, I'd agree with almost all of it (even on it's wikipedia page!), but a few key ones that really stood out to me: 1. The lack of a minimap or way to quick jump to units in the RTS game.... Read more
I only wish I could tell you something good or bad about this game. If only Amazon had shipped me the PS3 version and not the Xbox 360 which I don't own. It's actually sitting on my desk right this second trying to figure out what to do with it. (Returning it is not an option for me for certain reasons). Comment (1) Read more or see product
Fun: After downloading and playing the demo - which I recommend doing to see if you enjoy the style of the game - I decided to buy it. It's great fun all the way through, if you like metal and Jack Black humour, as well as the game world being a work of art. Plenty of laughs and over-the-top violence, with some great characters and a pretty good storyline. The game is only really let down by it's multiplayer - it's only 1-on-1 as far as I can tell, and not many people... Read more or see product
this is the newest Tim Schafer.this game is very fun to play.the story is well told.with some great voice acting form some of metals greatest, such as Ozzy Osbourne,Rob Halford, and Lemmy. the major downfall is the multiplayer. the multiplayer is just the boss battles you have in the game, just with 2-8 people playing against each other.you get to pick one of three different teams.overall this game is at least worth renting.
