Blitz The League II is a great release from Midway on so many levels, as it stays true to that classic arcade football formula and amplifies it many times over. If you are a fan of over-the-top arcade sports games you really can’t go wrong here, it is a blast to play. Read more

One of Madden 09’s selling points is the idea surrounding adaptability. In fact, your little daughter who doesn’t know what’s so special about special teams might beat you because of this adaptability factor. Madden attempts to be all things to all who play it; at once an in-depth simulation and an accessible arcade-like family game. Depending on who you are and who you talk to, it may or may not achieved that healthy balance.
- A fun, dark football experience., Mini-games create variety and depth., Campaign and lite-RPG elements.
- Graphical problems., Repetitive cut-scenes that can't be skipped., Caliendo's talents are wasted.

Madden's monopolistic grab of the NFL license was a blessing in a disguise for the NFL Blitz franchise, even though many would have thought that it would have been Blitz's death knell. Blitz may have lost the ‘NFL' from its title, but it gained the freedom to emphasize whatever aspects of the sport it wanted to without the watchful eye of the NFL looking over its shoulder. One of the most enjoyable and, in my opinion, fan focused football games returns for another season in Blitz the League II. I remember playing Blitz at the arcade as a child and later on the Playstation and absolutely falling in love with it. In no other football game could you blindside someone who is celebrating their touchdowns, body slam a running back, or drop kick a receiver. Read more
