Excerpt: Bionicle Heroes is a game based on the (formerly) popular Lego sets. The best way to describe this game would be to say it’s a mix of Lego Star Wars and a third person shooter. It puts you in control of the six “Toa Inika” on a quest to defeat the malevolent Piraka. This quest takes you through twenty-five levels and nineteen boss fights.
Conclusion: A game for fans of Bionicle only, as the world and plot is just not welcoming enough for anyone else plus the non-Lego look may well put off fans of the other Lego games. Put it down to experience and hope that the upcoming Indiana Jones and Batman offerings do a much better job.
Conclusion: The main achievement basically requires 100% completion – thus needing every level to be played again (once all the upgrades have been obtained) to get every special item in each level (~9/level), and finish the level with a gold medal (all special items, lots of LEGO pieces). This type of collection achievement is also detriment to the LEGO games. Bionicle Heroes – one for the kids. borandi (c) Author retains all rights and copyright.
Excerpt: On the coattails of LEGO: Star Wars II, Travellers Tales is taking another stab a LEGO infused title based on the Technic line of LEGO toys called Bionicles. Bionicle is a mixture of two words: biological and chronicle. The Bionicle series of LEGO toys has spawned books, comics, and a few direct of video movies. Naturally, the transition to a video game franchise was the next progressive step. Unfortunately, the execution of the first step is less than admirable.
Summary: In a perfect world, everyone everywhere will pay due homage to the supremacy of maniacal, gun-toting robots. Unfortunately, this world is not perfect. Bionicle Heroes, Traveller's Tales' latest game featuring the Lego license, does not do justice to its premise. In fact, Traveller's Tales seems to have given Bionicle Heroes no thought at all. The game's core mechanics closely mimic, if not straight up replicate, those found in the company's recent Lego Star Wars hits.
Pros: Occasionally humorous cutscenes, some attractive visual elements
Cons: Boring, repetitive gameplay, ports nearly all of Lego Star Wars 2's mechanics, not much beyond the single-player mode, the same music track looped for the vast majority of the game, when did invincibility stop being a cheat code?
