Excerpt: Unwieldy peripherals are nothing new to gaming, but now they’re being cranked out at such a clip that every mini-game imaginable will eventually get its own accessory retroactively—there’s already been a bowling-ball controller made specifically for seven Wii games, including Wii Sports . But do these hunks of plastic heighten the sense of immersion in a game, or merely sacrifice practicality in favor of looks?
Conclusion: The actual reeling them in is so great it makes the game worth the cost of the extra controller. Overall the game is definitely worth the extra cost, so much so that if you can't get the rod and reel controller I'd suggest waiting till you can. Making any angler proud, Bass Pro Shop really pulled a sleeper with this one, 4 out of 5 with the rod and reel controller, 3 out of 5 without.
