Summary: I am a big fan of the Gothic and Risen series. This game is not as good as Gothic 1 or 2, but it is not horrible either. The graphics are nice. I find that I cannot stop playing. Having just finished Oblivion again, I picked up this game and have not been able to put it down. Give it a chance, I think you will enjoy it. It is Gothic in name only. You will meet some old friends in this game.
Summary: Arcania had some good ideas, had some ok looking gameplay, but failed. the biggest issue is the frame rate, it's seriously less than 30 frames per second, it's more like 20 fps. it's unplayable at that low a frame rate. the quests are boring, and much of the story is forgettable if you LOVE RPGs, find some other game, and maybe come back to this when you play those other games you find.
Summary: I really enjoyed this game. It is not an open ended RPG like I had hoped. The game is very linear, however, it offers about 30 hours of game play and good graphics. Don't expect it to by anything like Skyrim or Oblivion, even though it looks and plays similar to these games. Those games offer 100s of hours of play. The game also has some areas that you cannot enter.
Summary: If this game didn't call itself a Gothic game, I would have liked it a lot more. I spent lots of hours playing gothic. The completely open world, the crafting, the story, the game play, the side quests...EVERYTHING about Gothic was literally phenomenal. This next installment in the Gothic series was a good game. but compared to the other Gothic games, it was saddening. It is extremely linear and NO open world.
Summary: I had been waiting for something like this for a long time and I'm completely happy with my purchase. I don't see any reason for a second play through, which might be another factor to consider before purchasing. I actually have been playing this over Fallout: New Vegas. I keep sticking New Vegas in my 360, but can't stop thinking of Arcania: Gothic 4 while playing it and usually switch.
Summary: i actually love the game.. im a big fan of rpg's when u add an open world makes it better. all & all i'd say get it.. its basically skyrim on an older engine. i mean u pretty much do the same things, only real difference is its old school gaming.
