Summary: While I don't always look for realism in war games, I was very disappointed in this title. Gaijin's previous flight combat entry, IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey was an engaging, fun, harrowing air combat experience that could be adjusted to suit the player's taste. No such luck here. While the game strives for realism, it straddles the line of believability.
Summary: Well let me just start by saying that there are some cool things about this game. The gun camera in thermal mode is very life like, the controls on realistic mode are very realistic also. The A.I. in this games is hot garbage it's kind of like fighting mindless zombies that have an endless supply of rpg's and impeccable aim. The thing that really made me dislike this game is that on co-op mode it doesn't give you a split screen.
Summary: I found this game to be very disappointing the adverts on the tv did make it look like a very interesting game to play and I love my air combat sims as much as the next guy but I can honestly say I didnt like this one, for starters the Apache itself is hard to control even on easy mode, the information on the HUD is far too small to be seen acuratly making it hard to know if you are running out of ammo or not.
Summary: When I first saw this game appear on the marketplace I was excited at the prospect of a helicopter based combat sim. Ive previously played an array of jet based and loved them, the most recent being the fantastic Ace Combat 6 and this looked like it had the potential to sit along side it. Graphically the game looks great. Beautifully textured, 3D landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for a helicopter based combat environment.
Easy to pick-up-and-play...if you're a qualified helicopter pilot that is

Summary: Apache: Air Assault is all about flying around in a helicopter and taking out bad guys...in theory. Unfortunately the games creators, in their desire to craft a 'realistic' helicopter game, have seemingly forgot that we're not all qualified pilots - and thus don't all appreciate the need for absolute realism when we're just trying to fly around for a bit.
Excerpt: I brought this game with high expectations as I do like flight simulators and some of the Xbox 360 ones have been quite good like Blazing Angels, Ace Combat. IL2 Birds of Prey. I know Apache Air Assault has had some not bad reviews in the press and has plenty for flying fanatics. My first impression was that the graphics were not that great and went on to go through the training missions.
Pros: Very realistic
Cons: Average graphics frustrating control system repetitive mission
