  • Excerpt: When I think of soldiers in war time I get all of these images of big vehicles rolling all over the place, gunfire from all directions, explosions… ya know, the works. Generally speaking this is how Hollywood and videogames have portrayed warfare, even the more realistic ones. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but this is what I was expecting of a game that talks about showing you what the real Army soldiers fight like.

  • Excerpt: Video games allow us to experience things that we may never experience in our lives. They put us in the cockpit of the world's fastest planes. From the beaches of Normandy to a modern conflict in the Middle-East, military first-person shooters allow us to, in part, live the lives our soldiers live.

  • Conclusion: Terrible marksmanship and a lack of understanding of the cover concept mean that many firefights turn into intimate encounters in America’s Army: True Soldiers . Not a bad thing, until you realize that the radial menu system for choosing weapons is clunky, and releasing from your own cover spot is a lesson in futility.
