Summary: “Alien Hominid HD” is a good buy for anyone looking for an action-packed game with a lasting appeal. There’s tons of stuff packed into this $10 game and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal on the Xbox Live Arcade. Just remember: This game is 100% 2D and is by no means “Next-gen”. If you’re not into games with an oldschool design, you’ll want to skip this game.
Pros: -Gorgeous hand-drawn 2D graphics., -Ridiculous amount of content., -Enough replay value to keep things fresh for a long time., -Extremely low price., -One of the best games for the Xbox Live Arcade., -Multiplayer makes for interesting sessions., -Wide variation in the game’s 16 arcade stages.
Cons: -Absolutely insane in terms of difficulty., -No Xbox Live multiplayer for arcade mode., -Most unlockables seem a bit pointless.
Conclusion: Like most XBLA games, you can earn valuable Gamer Score points on the cheap by completing the twelve Achievements by Behemoth. Some of these are pretty tough, but you’ll still have fun giving them a whirl: Alien in Training – Complete level 1-1 of the game. (5 GS points) Hungry Yeti – Eat 50 KGB agents with the Yeti. (10 GS points) City Destroyer – Destroy 25 buildings during one game. (10 GS points) Juvenile Alien – Complete the game on Easy difficulty.
Conclusion: Even though I've beaten the game and have all the achievements, sometimes I find myself going back to the story and replaying a couple levels with some of the more interesting bosses, either to experience those particular fight gimmicks again or just to enjoy the art. Summary: Commercial-grade digital distribution was made for games like Alien Hominid, which was just ahead of its time. While it started life as a simple little Flash game online, the full game was originally released on the PlayStation 2 and GameCube back in 2004, with a European Xbox release hitting in 2005. The 2D side-scrolling shooter was endlessly charming and notoriously difficult, but it never really broke out of its fairly tiny niche.
Pros: Outstanding visual design, great value, challenging gameplay, terrific sense of humor
Cons: Save bug prevents some players from saving their progress upon quitting the game, no audio in Missile Mastar minigame, no online support for main two-player game
Pros: Les graphismes 2D, L'humour génial, Le mode coop
