excellent graphics, terrible gameplay - not recommended
3 weeks ago
Summary: Namco failed on this one - the graphics are way better, but the gameplay and the controls are terrible. If you played Fires of Liberation then you will probably hate this one as much as I do - I played for 20 minutes and got bored immediatelly. Many others mentioned about the re-use of the same scenes over and over again which now I can confirm is true. You can't control the plane the way you want...
Summary: To those that think you are buying this and think you are playing it like you did on previous games. Youre wrong. The flight dynamics have changed when it comes to taking down targets. This is the Beginning of the End for the Ace Combat Series. Its going downhill.
Summary: Ace Combat is my favorite video game series of all time. I played through 5, Zero, and 6 more times than I can count, and continue to play all of them. It combined awesome flying with amazing, indepth storylines and really got the player attached to the story and characters. Ace Combat 6 was kinda lacking in the story compared to 5 and Zero and was definitely lacking in the planes you could buy and fly, but it was still a great game.
Summary: I am a big fan of the Ace Combat series. When I saw the trailer for this, I was eager for its release. I preordered it and eagerly awaited its arrival. What a disappointment. This game is horrible. Horrible game play. Graphics are not improved from previous games. The apache helicopter looked exciting. It sucked. I stopped playing this game long before finishing it. What a let down. I hope, if they continue the series, the next one is better. Not even worth renting!!!
Summary: I think the title of my review says it all. I am not going to go into excrutiating detail about how much I loathe this game. My money would have been better spent paying someone to kick me repeatedly in my nether-regions.
Summary: If I wasn't deployed with nothing better to do, this "game" would have been target practice. Where to start? Gameplay: HORRIBLE, they changed the way the game is played generally. Now you use "dog fight mode" which is completely ridiculous. Often times you find yourself in a "boss" fight in the dog fight mode and you hit a target with 10-15 missiles and it still doesn't go down? That's just one of many things that made me annoyed the whole way through.
Summary: The things I enjoyed about previous ace combats is how you can fight how you want and take on targets as you see fit and a simple story that had some feeling. This new ace game does not have that at all! Instead of pursuing targets you basicly have to enter dog fight mode or the equivalent but for ground forces. For the team leaders you had to enter this game mode in order to destroy the enemy.
Summary: horribly disappointed with this game. what i wanted was "the unsung war" with better graphics and new missions. what i got was something that could kill the franchise. i'm not kidding. dfm is the worst idea i have ever seen. you barely need to do anything... it's a michael bay movie where you occasionally hit buttons. terrible.
