2006 FIFA World Cup Xbox 360 Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: England probably won’t win the World Cup, but at least with the official game you can pretend they are good enough by putting the difficulty level on easy and ripping through the world ranks as if your team was made up of tireless Brazilian workhorses. Forget about England’s woes and play this instead, it beats being depressed about our national teams inevitable exit from the competition.

2006 FIFA World Cup Review

IGN Entertainment
9 February 2008
  • Conclusion: Yes, 2006 FIFA World Cup is a full-price title, and yes it shares a good bit with last year’s Xbox 360 launch title, but there’s a lot of extra love coming from EA Canada. 2006 FIFA World Cup is a synergistic title that is virtually complete from stem to stern. There’s good gameplay, excellent modes, palpable pageantry, above average graphics and audio, and even sweet navigation screens.

2006 FIFA World Cup

The Gamers Temple
11 August 2007
  • Excerpt: 2006 FIFA World Cup is designed to give gamers a chance to experience the German-hosted soccer experience for themselves. It features a nice presentation that gives the game a very international feel and a festive atmosphere, but the gameplay itself is not quite world class.

2006 FIFA World Cup

Xbox Evolved
23 December 2006
  • Summary: 2006 FIFA World Cup takes elements of the best soccer games and gives it a unique spin. It still dosen't match up to Pro Evolution Soccer, but it has improved and become more refined and innovative. EA have done a very good job, and have made it their best World Cup game yet.
  • Pros: Nice gameplay, easy to control, well laid out control scheme.
  • Cons: Frustrating gameplay, still dosen't come close to Pro Evolution Soccer.

Expert Review

Video Game talk
13 June 2006
  • Conclusion: If you found yourself with a sour taste in your mouth after playing Road to the World Cup then you'll definitely want to tackle EA's "apology" release. Everything about FIFA 06: World Cup is better though I can't help but feel that instead of two separate releases we should have just received one solid package. That's roughly $120 you'd have spent on what should have been the same game.
