Reviews and Problems with World Championship Rugby

Very good, if somewhat short lived Rugby game
1 July 2004
Summary: Acclaim have been known in the past to make 'fun' games such as Burnout, but what can Swordfish Studios do now? Here is my summary:- GOOD:-) ======= + Very good, detailed graphics and animations. + All the kits are correct, even if not 'licensed' + Realistic (at most times) physics engine + Nice stadiums, and good sound effects + Very easy to get into and play. Controls are good also.
Summary: This game reeks of a quick cash-in. The 'finished' product is probably 50-60% of the way to being a worthwhile attempt at recreating the greatest sport on earth. The player graphics are weak and most of them have invented names (unless this is a legal requirement, wouldn't it have been easier to copy the names from the World Cup squad lists) which detracts severely from the realism. Bizarrely, the creators don't seem to know the rules of rugby.
