  • Excerpt: Choosing your race and character is important. Some characters have better health and armor capabilites than others, but are slow as molasses; others can jump high, but don't have the health others do; and some can even gain life when they damage other players, but they don't have a lot of health to start out with; there's also your standard human who doesn't have any racial bonus, but are more well rounded.

Unreal: Championship

Xbox-Hq.Com

  • Excerpt: Unreal Championship is an action packed multiplayer shooter featuring high-tech weapons and a variety of alien races. The game features a single player mode where players compete against AI bots. The real action however is online. The online frag fest does not disappoint as it delivers high paced combat, futuristic weapons and very sweet graphics. On top of this the excellent map designs and variety of tournaments make for a very high replay value.

Unreal Championship

  • Conclusion: Big-ass guns are of course a requisite for FPS fighting, and there’s no shortage of weaponry to unleash some serious hurt. Some are much better than others, like the Shock Rifle and Flak Cannon 3.0, but each has its advantages. Another plus is Unreal Championship’s control setup. I’ve said it before; I think the Xbox controller is perfectly suited for FPS gaming. Unreal Championship has tight and responsive controls right in line with Halo.

  • Excerpt: Take the sweet and slick stylings of Microsoft's Halo and crank it up to the multifarious frenzy of Epic/Infogrames' Unreal franchise and you've got Unreal Championship , simply the most dazzling of the decidedly dedicated First-Person Shooter (FPS) games available on a console.

  • Excerpt: The online first person shooting arena is perhaps one of the most profitable areas in gaming today. Come on, who doesn’t like kicking some poor sap’s tail in a quick fragfest every now and again? The fact of the matter is there’s nothing quite like the visceral thrill of going head to head against real, live, intelligent opponents from all over the world while you’re sitting in a beanbag chair on your living room floor… and kicking butt.

GamingNexus

  • Summary: is a game that received a whole lot of lovin’ from the guys around the Gaming Nexus offices. Featuring perhaps the most addicting gameplay of any First Person Shooter on the market, Epic had an amazing title on their hands that took the world by storm. Sure it never quite matched up the mighty Quake 3 juggernaut, but it lingered around long enough to garner a following.

Unreal Championship – Review

GameCritics.com

  • Excerpt: My introduction to online gaming came by way of Quake III: Arena for the PC, which a few summers ago mercilessly drained a ludicrous amount of time from what might have been a productive three months. Online deathmatch games are a genre whose visceral nature belies their nuanced gameplay and dooms curious gamers to hours of addicting repetition-qualities that lead to a boom in their popularity on the PC.

Unreal Championship

Into Liquid Sky
18 June 2002
  • Excerpt: Unreal Championship takes an interesting angle on first person shooters. Rather than offering a standard story-based mode that gives the players events and goals, the game is set up much like a gladiator sport. Imagine the fanfare and competition of professional wrestling set in a futuristic first person shooter world, where the player selects a character and a team composed of computer controller bots to fight in arenas in a variety of modes, including Deathmatch,...
  • Pros: Online and multiplayer modes are a blast, Nice looking levels, Sound effects have great presence
  • Cons: Single player mode is weak, Music is repetitive at best, Instances of framerate lag
