Triple Play 2002 (XBox)

  • Conclusion: Again, I find very little redeeming about this title. It sounds good, but that’s hardly worth the price of the game. It would seem that EA is simply going through the motions while they wait for the next release of Madden. It’s hard to imagine any other explanation. Yes, I’ve been hard on this and the PS2 version. If you like either title, please let me know. I promise not to criticize.

  • Excerpt: Oh how the mighty have fallen. How could such a huge company like Electronic Arts let such a bad game be developed and published under their respected name. It is understandable that some have criticized EA for not adding enough options to the yearly update of its football, basketball, hockey and other sports titles, but this is a whole different situation.

Triple Play 2002

  • Excerpt: Ugh. I really try hard to give a game a fair try before I do a review, but Triple Play 2002 put my patience to the test. No one element of the game is horrendously bad, but when you add it all up, this game lacks fun and depth. You may have moments of fun, but the feeling that most of it is scripted, will ruin most of the fun. The biggest factor against TP is that there is nothing that it does, that isn’t done better by another game on the market.

Triple Play 2002 Review

GameSpot
22 March 2002
  • Excerpt: While the real boys of summer are still working out all of their kinks in spring training, EA Sports has just released the latest installment in its Triple Play series for the PlayStation 2. Triple Play 2002 features a lot of visual refinements and new announcers, but the game's core play mechanics and overall style haven't changed much since last year's game.
