Conclusion: Ghost Recon has to compete with the macho Unreal Championship for the title of best Xbox Live shooter. In no way should these two great games even be compared except in the aspect that they are both Xbox Live titles. Ghost Recon is for those gamers out there that dream of being a Navy Seal not those that dreamed of taking out a robot with a rocket launcher.
Excerpt: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is different than most first-person shooters you'll play on a console. Ammo clips lying around, super-weapons sitting on ledges just a double-jump away, and health bars? Those are for wimps! This is a Clancy game after all. Instead Ghost Recon provides a more realistic experience, with real-world weapons, limited ammunition, and one-hit kills. This makes it harder to play than most shooters, but they'd be hard pressed to match Ghost Recon's...
Excerpt: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is a military simulator that requires strategy, planning, and good aim. Your squad members will die in most cases, even if you try to save them, because of the great A.I.
Excerpt: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon is a squad-based tactical shooter set in the year 2008. Radical ultranationalists have seized power in Moscow with ambitions of re-establishing the old Soviet empire. Enter an elite group of Green Berets, aka Ghosts, deployed to the Republic of Georgia for a series of covert peacekeeping missions.
Conclusion: We can only feel envy at American Xbox owners playing Ghost Recon over Live! A small taste of split screen action demonstrated that stalking a mate (or playing co-op if you don't like shooting friends and spouses) is A1 entertainment. There are negatives, the worst being the over use of scripting in the missions. There's no real randomness to enemy troop placement, leading to an artificial atmosphere when you do replay missions.
Pros: + think and shoot warfare is just plain fun., + good variety of indorr & outdoor maps, +, Reviewed by Peter Sharpe
Cons: - missions are overly scripted, taking away from the tension when replaying missions., - commanding troop movement on the map is just not as accurate as it needs to be at times., -
