SWAT: Global Strike Team Review

IGN Entertainment
11 March 2010
  • Conclusion: SWAT: GST is a title that unfortunately will be passed over as soon as a customer looks on the back of the box and notices no multiplayer online gameplay. With titles such as Rainbow Six 3 and Ghost Recon having dynamic gameplay and online capabilities, SWAT doesn’t stand a chance. It is worth a gander due to the awesome lighting effects, but lighting effects alone shouldn’t justify a purchase.

SWAT: Global Strike Team

Xbox-Hq.Com
25 April 2004
  • Excerpt: Global Strike team puts you in command of your very own swat team, where each member is specially trained in a different area. One member of your team is a sniper and the other is a field technician. You can control these characters and tell them what to do by use of the d-pad, you can tell them to proceed or follow you. You can also command them to open doors in different ways, for example either using force or even explosive charges if you so wish.

  • Excerpt: Global Strike Team, thus, is another game altogether. It isn't about the LAPD organization. And I doubt it would be as the LAPD is pretty stringent on how it is portrayed both in games as well as in movies. Global Strike Team is basically a worldwide policing force that runs on SWAT principles. The aim of each mission is to preserve life - not take it.

SWAT: Global Strike Team

Game Over Online
1 March 2004
  • Excerpt: Sierra's involvement in SWAT: Global Strike Team has led many people to think that Global Strike Team is the latest edition of the SWAT franchise, a franchise that has been with Sierra since the heydays of full motion video games. Global Strike Team, however, is a plot driven version of the SWAT franchise. Unlike SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle, it is more action than a simulation of day-to-day SWAT missions.

SWAT: Global Strike Team

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: So, if you're stood in a games shop with Rainbow Six 3 in one hand, and SWAT in the other, which one do you buy? - Well, as playable as SWAT is, the lack of Xbox Live multiplayer support is a real shame, but if you don't have Live then SWAT gives you the better multiplayer options.
  • Pros: Smooth, dramatic arcade action., Good multiplayer modes add longevity., Interesting 'compliance' gameplay feature.
  • Cons: The action gets repetitive quickly., No Xbox Live multiplayer., Bodies disappear too quickly.
