Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox)
4 July 2013
Excerpt: Bioware has been known to make some of the best Role Playing Games in the world. This Canadian developer has taken RPGs to new levels with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) for the Xbox (to be released for the PC this fall). I am usually a person who likes to play action and strategy games as well as detailed racing simulations on the PC.
Conclusion: KOTOR is the game that Xbox fans have truly been waiting for. We’ve all suffered through delay after delay of this great title, and now that it is finally here we know that it was worth the wait. From its magnificent story to its innovative battle engine, KOTOR covers all the bases and easily blows away every American RPG created in recent history, while challenging even the best and biggest Japanese behemoths like Final Fantasy.
Excerpt: I’m not a fan of science fiction and as a result of that, I’ve never been big into Star Wars. You wouldn’t find me waiting patiently in a line for tickets to Episode I or II, hoping that these new prequels held true to a franchise I had grown to love. So when I kept hearing all good things about Knight of the Old Republic, I blew them off. I mean, how good could it be? It was based off Star Wars.
Pros: + Awesome story and character development.
Cons: - A little short and sometimes visually bland.
Excerpt: BioWare is a vaunted PC developer with games the caliber of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights under their belt. And while it is rare to see a first-rate Western developed game on the consoles, much less an RPG, BioWare seems to be breaking through the stereotype. True, their recent release entitled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is not for everyone, as it is a more PC-styled RPG than a console-styled one.
Excerpt: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the most anticipated titles of the year and the quality of this title definitely lives up to all hype and expectation. This Star Wars game takes players back almost 4000 years before the first star wars film to the Golden Age of the Republic. The basic story doesn't at all deviate from classic Star Wars: Bad guy reeking havoc on good guys and you must kill bad guy.
Excerpt: I could go into the history of how Star Wars games have been pretty hit-or-miss, but I won't. That would only detract from the details about how Knights of the Old Republic delivers the experience that so many people have been waiting for. Set some 4000 years before Anakin Skywalker discovers the Force, the story is set just a few years after the Republic has defeated the Mandalorians in a costly war.
Pros: Built on a solid RPG engine, Great story and voiceacting, Excellent hybrid battle system, Lots of Star Wars fanservice
Cons: NPC faces are repeated often, Minigames are weak
Excerpt: To the delight of gamers everywhere, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has finally been released on the XBox. The PC version should be out this fall…if you can wait that long. That said, Knights of the Old Republic is easily one of the best RPGs on any of the current consoles. BioWare has brought RPG fans another excellent game!
Excerpt: Star Wars fans have been waiting for the release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for quite some time, and finally, the game's release date is approaching. Combine the hugely popular Star Wars universe with the creative geniuses at BioWare and you’ve got an RPG like no other.
