Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Xbox Review
11 August 2009
Conclusion: Let me begin by saying that if you're looking for the one and only place in existence that you can find a negative review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, you'll need to keep looking.
Excerpt: Where The Phantom Menace failed, Knights Of The Old Republic succeeds brilliantly. This is a Star Wars prequel done right - with nary a Gungan in sight. KOTOR takes place 4,000 years before the movies, during the Old Republic’s 10,000 year reign.
Pros: Fantastic Star Wars story, Superb voice acting, Dark or Light - your moral choices decide
Cons: Or just pick an allegiance at the end, Minigames can be frustrating, Item collecting can be redundant
Excerpt: I’m not a fan of science fiction and as a result of that, I’ve never been big into Star Wars. You wouldn’t find me waiting patiently in a line for tickets to Episode I or II, hoping that these new prequels held true to a franchise I had grown to love.
Pros: + Awesome story and character development.
Cons: - A little short and sometimes visually bland.
Excerpt: I could go into the history of how Star Wars games have been pretty hit-or-miss, but I won't. That would only detract from the details about how Knights of the Old Republic delivers the experience that so many people have been waiting for.
Pros: Built on a solid RPG engine, Great story and voiceacting, Excellent hybrid battle system, Lots of Star Wars fanservice
Cons: NPC faces are repeated often, Minigames are weak
Excerpt: To the delight of gamers everywhere, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has finally been released on the XBox. The PC version should be out this fall…if you can wait that long. That said, Knights of the Old Republic is easily one of the best RPGs on any of the current consoles.
Excerpt: Bioware has been known to make some of the best Role Playing Games in the world. This Canadian developer has taken RPGs to new levels with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) for the Xbox (to be released for the PC this fall).
Excerpt: Star Wars fans have been waiting for the release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for quite some time, and finally, the game's release date is approaching. Combine the hugely popular Star Wars universe with the creative geniuses at BioWare and you’ve got an RPG like no other.
Excerpt: Ah yes, the Star Wars game. A console genre unto itself, almost. LucasArts has put out so many titles based on their parent company's most famous product that you could build a decent-sized console game collection just by purchasing all of them alone.
Excerpt: Before Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released for the Xbox, Microsoft's console had a pretty sad shortage of RPGs. Luckily for gamers, KOTOR turned out to be a shining example of how an RPG needs to be done - it has great graphics, tons of gameplay, a brilliant story, and more...
