Conclusion: Star Wars Battlefront II is better than the original in almost every way, which says a lot for LucasArts’ and Pandemic’s commitment to their legion of fans. Space battle and playable Jedi are reason enough to run out and buy Star Wars Battlefront II , but 32 player online matches don’t hurt either. We’re sure they’ll be updates to the code after the servers get inundated with players, but you won’t be paying for these changes which will make your experience better.
Excerpt: After the huge success of last year's Star Wars: Battlefront, the chance of there never being another game in the series was very slim. Thankfully, for fans of the game, the wait has been incredibly short. Battlefront II, once again from Pandemic Studios and Activision, throws in a couple of new ideas, but for the most part remains pretty similar to the original game. Whether this is a good thing or not depends on just how much you loved the first game.
Excerpt: The first Star Wars Battlefront followed a successful formula for LucasArts; of mimicking a popular videogame and adding Star Wars characters, storylines, locations and production values. Star Wars Galaxies was your standard MMORPG, but with the added, and not to be underestimated attraction that you could play as a Jedi, Bounty Hunter or Wookie.
Excerpt: If you think about it, the Star Wars phenomenon and rise of video gaming as a popular past time have a lot in common. Excerpt: On November 1st of 2005, the house of Lucas passed down a double dose of Star Wars goodness. Episode III made its DVD debut and Battlefront II , the sequel to the “best-selling” Star Wars game of all time, Battlefront, was released across a variety of systems. Conclusion: I know what some might be saying, “Joel you gave Battlefront II the same exact score as the original Battlefront”. And what I would say to you is you’re right, I did. And I did this because I truly believe that the developers did a nice job of upgrading the game in many areas. But on the same token, I don’t think they upgraded everything enough to take it to the next level. Should Battlefront fans go run out and buy this game?
Excerpt: I did it all for the wookie. Console games have always been behind the online shooting curve, but they caught up a little last year with LucasArts" Star Wars: Battlefront . That game stole some thunder from EA's genre-defining Battlefield series by offering console owners a similar experience with a sweet, Star Wars candy coating. With EA rolling Battlefield 2: Modern Combat into the fray, LucasArts has preemptively struck again with Star Wars Battlefront II .
Pros: Cool class system, Intense action, Good production, Balancing issues, Bad offline play
