Excerpt: Spyhunter is a driving game for the Playstation 2 developed by Midway Games in 2001. It is a remake of the classic arcade game of the same name and upgrades it to a 3D format with a more involving story. In the arcade game you drive a car fitted with all kinds of weapons and gadgets and you must drive continuously taking out enemies and avoiding causing harm to civilians.
Excerpt: With consumers increasingly going for popular gaming series and established characters over new, ‘unheard of’ games, developers seem to be increasingly looking to the past. Everything from Space Invaders to Frogger has seen a next-gen update, and Midway decided to dust off an old retro game and give it a fresh lick of paint. That game is none other than 80’s arcade hit Spyhunter. The basic premise remains the same as its age-old predecessor.
Pros: Can be exhilirating in short bursts, Gives players a taste of James Bond
Cons: Poor graphics, Short - lived, Little challenge, Occasionally frustrating, Poor multiplayer
Excerpt: Get behind the wheel of the G-6155 Interceptor for high-speed, mission-based racing in exotic locales. As the Spy Hunter, you are relentlessly pursued by hordes of air, ground and water enemies as you battle to accomplish your missions and save the world from the mind of a madman. A remake of the arcade classic, Spy Hunter boasts ultra-realistic 3D graphics, real-world locales and the only vehicle capable of morphing into a boat, jet ski or motorcycle.
Excerpt: I first bought this game because it was in a 2 4 1 deal at woolworths and i thought it looked cool i will explain the gd and bad things about it in my review. Have you ever played the retro game game classic? the one where you drove a little car that fired machine guns, and you could drive into the back of a little van to get refuelled and extra weapons? well this is the ps2 remake of that wicked old game!
Summary: This game has been given mediocre reviews in general. This is grossely unfair as it has a lot to offer. The graphics may not be the best ever, but they are perfectly adequate with long draw distances and plenty of detail (just look at the water in the canal levels). The levels progress nicely, and the upgrades in weaponry follows this.
Summary: Quite simply- rubbish. The controls are ridiculous, the storyline was written by a particularly uninspired five-year old and the graphics belong on an atari. I tried to like this game, really I did. I hired it for five days, and returned it in two. It just feels like the game has been trotted out, without any thought at all. Why bother making games like this?
Excerpt: Remember the classic arcade game Spyhunter? The one where you drove a little car that fired machine guns, and you could drive into the back of a little van to get refuelled and extra weapons? Well this is the PS2 remake of that wicked old game! Yep, all the gameplay from the original is still here, it's simple, you drive through a beautifully rendered 3d track, shooting bad guys with the machine guns on the front of your very nice looking sports car, which has the...
