SVC Chaos is, for all intents and purposes, SNK?s take on the Capcom vs. SNK series, and is another chapter in what would ideally be a fighting game fan?s dream come true. ?? As someone who loved the first two entries in this particular ?vs.? series, I was looking forward to seeing SNK?s take on it, and to experience the Capcom fighters in SNK?s drawing style. ? Much to my chagrin, this game suffers from some crippling problems that keep it from attaining the level of... Read more
Now I love fighting games as much as the next guy, but talk about beating a dead horse! Despite having a few new cool characters added to the line up, too many characters here have just been recycled from all the countless past games, the game play is often unfair and cheap, plus there aren’t enough play modes here to justify the game’s high 70 dollar Canadian ($50 US) price tag. A few months ago I rated a great Xbox fighting game called Guilty Gear X2 # Reload. That... Read more
When you consider the sheer potential of the classic Capcom vs series, and the fact that they’ve all been solid titles in their own right, then SVC Chaos should follow suit the tradition and offer up some hectic, solid 2d fighting, complete with Live support, right? Wrong. Somewhere along the line, SNK takes the idea of having 2 of the fighting genres biggest names beating the crap out of each other, and makes it boring. Read more
SVC Chaos shouldn’t be avoided by those who follow SNK or Capcom as it still is a solid game to collect. The online is the saving grace for this title as it’s the best part of the game that kept me from putting it on the rack with other dusty games that were never picked up again to play. If you are a true hardcore fan, I recommend you pick it up but with caution as it will fork out some moments of frustration wondering why you ever decided to buy this game. Read more
2D fighting games are dead, right? At least that was the general consensus a few years ago, before Capcom, SNK and Sammy unleashed a veritable flood of sprite-based beat-em-ups on the market. Obviously, that was a premature assessment, because 2D brawlers are not only not dead, but happily flourishing alongside their more “advanced” 3D cousins. Enter SNK’s take on the whole Capcom vs. SNK issue — the aptly titled, SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (SNK gets top billing... Read more
SNK vs. Capcom is a rehash of an older 2D fighter brough to the Xbox. It's updated with XBL-compatible play, which gives it a bit of extra life, though offline, it's not quite as good. The graphics don't look that great compared to other Xbox 2D fighter ports, though they do the job. Online play is a bit laggy, which can cause some issues on slow connections, and even on fast ones. For the 2D fighter fan, it might be worth looking for, though for only on the cheap. Read more
SNK vs. CAPCOM CHAOS (Snk Playmore, October 7, 2004) Wouldn't it be cool to see characters from one game fight guys from another game? A few years ago the dream came true for fans when popular game companies Capcom and SNK decided to have a ... Read more
